Maui - Gift of Time question?

We have a garden view (only view left when we purchased), 2 bedroom gift of time purchase for Dec. 31 to Jan. 7 at the Ocean Club. What are the possibilities that we could request and be granted an ocean view? Any suggestions or advice?
Also, does anyone know of any activities on the island for New Year's Eve? Good restaurants to go to?
