Question Southwest-"Internet Special"

We will be flying from Orlando to Denver in May. Southwest has not released these dates yet. I did a price search using March. I put in for "Internet Special"-$59-$99. I ended up for 2 passengers a total of $274 roundtrip. That's an unbelievable price. Has anyone ever booked this "Internet Special" with SW? And is there a catch? Also, does anyone know when May-June dates will appear? Thank You as always!

Cheryl,

I've used the Southwest Internet Special to travel from Fort Lauderdale to Islip.

No Glitch. It's for real. The prices seem to go higher as the date of travel gets closer.

I wouldn't be surprised that the Internet specials for your travel dates will be higher than what you've currently found.

Good luck in finding good fares.

Richard

Hi Cheryl,

I use SWA's internet specials all the time. Just got back from a trip from San Jose CA to Chicago for $99 each way (about $225 per person incl taxes), a super deal.

The catch? The specials go very quickly, sometimes the same day that SWA opens their schedule for your trip. You need to watch the SWA schedule like a hawk and book it as soon as the schedule opens up. (They don't always go that quickly, but sometimes can). But you'll have a great deal if you catch it.

I think that the schedule changes or updates on Tuesdays. Southwest is great and if something changes and you can't fly then you can go to the travel center (on site) and reschedule and pay if there is a difference in cost or they will credit your account if it is cheaper.

Where on the Southwest website do you find the "internet specials"?

When you look for your flights you are given various price options. The one at the far right is usually the internet special. That's the only place I know of where to find them.

You can also downloaded "DING!" from Southwest air. It's great, you specify your home airport and weekly, you get all the 'super specials' leaving from your airport- you only get a few hours to book (flights are for up-to several weeks out). For example, yesterday, I got- leaving for Tampa in Jan. from Phila for $45 each way.....I love SW Air.....

We just flew SW from Buffalo to Houston return for $172 per person. We originally booked at $224, and now we have a nice little credit in our account. We really like SW!

There are specials every week, and they usually come out on Tuesday. You can sign up for their e-mails, which will arrive on Tuesday and tell you what's up this week. Sometimes the specials have to be booked by that Thursday midnight; sometimes they're good for a week or a month. There's usually a "featured city" where the fares are a little lower than similar routes.

If you trip is a ways off, you can wait to see if your desired route goes up for sale. Or you can buy now and look for a cheaper deal. Southwest's refund and credit policy is great -- you have a year (from when you bought it) to use it.

I had Ding! for a while, but didn't find it useful. The specials are only good for a few hours, and while cheap, it seemed like they were always really specific like "Tulsa to Kansas City on the third Tuesday of March"

I hardly fly any more, but if more airlines were like Southwest I would travel more.

Try Jet Blue. I flew them from Oakland to JFK and was thoroughly impressed.
