:hi: Why doesn't everyone register to sell/rent their timeshsares on bidshares.com
It's free to advertise so why not use their service as well as all the others? I'm not sure why people don't advertise their timeshares on it.......it's free!!

The more you all use bidshares the better chance we all have of renting/selling/buying good timshares.

What's their to lose??

So User Friendly!

I've often wondered the same thing...Why hasn't Bidshares become more popular? It is SOOOOO user friendly, so easy to download pictures...It's cheaper than ebay as well. Maybe it's because you can't speak directly to the sellers?? Dunno

I just went there after being away for over a year. I did a quick check for Marriott's. There were 51 for rent. Only 1 had a bid and it was way below a reasonable bid. That's why nobody goes there. There are way too few renters and buyers there. It doesn't matter if it's free or if it's user friendly. If nobody's there, it's not worth the effort.

You'd be better off using craigslist.

I've had one 'winner' of two TS on BS never consummate the deal. I've had one winner buy my brother's TS and then turn around and buy five of mine! But in the year I've had stuff up there there's really been very little action when you consider all the rentals and sales I had posted.

But why is nobody there?

"If nobody's there, it's not worth the effort."

So why aren't people using Bidshares? It's too bad...I really like the easy format. Maybe they should put an ad on TV or something. I currently have a week listed there for sale and have listed a couple other weeks with them in the past. I received a few emails with questions, but haven't sold any.

We do use Bidshares

In fact all our current rental and sale listings are on bidshares. We do get some response, we have sold 2 units and rented one on thier site this year. I get lots of newby questions, so somebody is looking.
Love their software, easy to set up nice looking auctions.

I have been advertising rentals on Bidshares for about 6 months, the identical listings were concurrently advertised on Redweek. I remember getting one inquiry from Bidshares, never got a rental, no one ever bids, at least on my rentals:confused:

On the other hand I have made 6 rentals from the same Redweek ads. I don't know how you could ask for a better side by side comparison. Bidshares either does not get the traffic, or maybe it is their auction format that does not interest renters.

I guess you get what you pay for. Bidshares may be free, but 100% of nothing is still nothing. I will pay the minimal advertising fees on Redweek and continue to get my asking prices.:whoopie:

I've made several rentals from Bidshares. No, people don't bid, but they respond, and that's all I need.

It's the same with Timesharegateway - traffic might be slow but all I need is one interested browser to happen by. I use enough outlets that I'm not overly concerned that one or the other doesn't bring a heap of traffic.

People have various reasons for using various sites. Do what you're comfortable with and if you don't like the results, do something else. Some folks will only use what others have frequently endorsed. That's fine, but sometimes opportunities are missed by following the herd.

Majority are Rentals

It seems from these posts that the majority use Bidshares for rentals. Where are the sellers????

I know when I check rental/sales there seems to be to much information missing and not worth the time to mess with finding the info. We own at the Ridge Tahoe at Lake Tahoe NV so I keep track of the Ridge on Bidshare and Redweek.

There are about five different type buildings most like hotel rooms and three buildings called the Neagle which are two bedrooms with patio that reaches from one bedroom to the other. The Neagle is one of the best in Lake Tahoe. You start checking the bid sites and very few will tell you what your bidding on so you see a good price and then need to tract the person down to find out what they own,not worth the trouble unless your ready to buy.

The Ridge will rent your week but only by the night,no promise of all seven nights and they take to much money to do it. I watched these sites to get idea in case I wanted to rent at some point.

As far as selling most owners bottom line way to high. You can get very good deal buying from the Resorts Realty LLC at the Ridge. I notice most units start at $5000-5500 and then no bids listed after that! PHIL

Actually all the buildings at The Ridge offer 2 Bedroom/ 2 bath units. The Naegles do have the largest patios though. You are also correct that often times there is no listing for which building nor which season the unit for sale is.

Bid is offer to negociate.

I have bid a few times on timeshares on bidshare. It seems that a bid, even a low starting bid is really an opening offer to negociate. It is more like sending and email for a redweek listing or TUG classified listing. You are making an offer for which you might be able to come to an agreement.

I am thinking I like this way much better than ebay. On some timeshares it seems there is some sort of price support on ebay.

Yes, and if it's something you really want, with the lower traffic, the competition is not there, so you have more chance of paying what You want, not what the market and snipers run it up to. I prefer that also.

false, missing or misleading info happens everywhere. No site is completely free of it and never will be because behind every ad is a human.

eBay has some consequencies for not following thru (although minor - unless you care about your rating as I do) while bidshares does not - that is the eBay Biz model - human nature - bidshares is based on honor (much like TUG) - and why not just use TUG? (rhetorical ?)

because bidshares is free and has never spammed me.

contracts easily take the place of honor.
