August Briarwood, Cape Code or Galleon, Key West

I have not been to either which would be the best in late July early August with teen girls? And why please. I have the Galleon already and now have Briarwood on hold and I'm wondering which one to keep. I'd have to pay the penalty to cancel Galleon.

We are spending a couple days in Boston as an add on to NYC in March.

Key West in July and August is oppressively hot and humid IMHO. This is also within the hurricane season. The cost of airline tickets can be expensive as the airport is tiny, with a limited number of flights. The drive down from Miami is long and can be tedious. It's a 2 lane road in many sections and one serious car accident can tie up traffic for hours. The beach at the Galleon is virtually un-swimmable. The atmosphere in Key West might be a bit too rowdy and "way-out" for teenage children, depending upon how sheltered they have been.

On the positive side, once you arrive in Key West, a car is not necessary. You can walk to most areas or take public transportation. The city is very unique and is rich in history. The Galleon is a beautiful resort with interesting activities.

Briarwood is located mid-cape. It is a typical "old fashioned" resort--very family orientated. The units are bright and spacious. They are 2 story townhouses with a private back yard. There is a full kitchen, which is rare on Cape Cod due to zoning restrictions. Briarwood's kitchens were "grand-fathered" in because the units were originally built to be full-time townhome residences. The quaint town of Falmouth is a short walk. It has many nice restaurants and shops. Major malls are about a 10-15 minute drive away. They have multi-plex movie theatres, bowling lanes, and numerous stores. Day trips to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket are close by. There are historical sites e.g. Plymouth where the Pilgrims first landed and settled. There's also a ferry to and from Boston. The big attraction is the miles of gorgeous beaches up and down the cape. Several are located within a short drive from Briarwood.

It all depends upon what type of vacation you are looking for. I personally would choose Briarwood. I would not want to be in Key West at that time of the year. I found it unbearable the one time we went there in the summer.

From the beginning of our 20-year timeshare journey, the Galleon has been one of those fabled resorts, and Key West one of those destinations that we had to get to at least once, and we did this year.

If this would likely be the only time you could/would go there, go there.

As much as I adore Key West and am dying to return, I would prefer to spend summer on the Cape than in south Florida...

But I agree with JLB, if this is the only chance for some time for you to go to Key West, then don't let it go.

And we would like to visit Cape Cod in the summer, now that we have that trip to The Galleon taken care of!

Seriously, Cape Cod is on our list.

I already had released the hold and I'm keeping Key West.
Thanks for the tips someday we'll go to the Cape and we are going to Boston in the spring already.

If you like watersports, most of the snorkeling and diving and eco boats are right next to The Galleon, in the bight (marina).
