New England for Easter
I am looking to book week 13 for 2007. I have a week at RCI which is pulling about 10 locations in NH and VT or points with Fairfield that pulls Rhode Island. We are in NY so are looking for a drivable Easter week. Either location works. Does anyone have any experience in the following:
Briarwood, Cold Spring Resort, Crotched Mountain, Cathedral Ledge, Winnipesaukee Village, Smuggler's Notch or Mountanside at Stowe? These are the RCI pulls. all 2 BR weeks. Fairfield has only RI, mostly Newport and some appear to be hotel units or 1BR units. Thanks for your advice. Joan |

Are you skiers? Depending on conditions, the slopes at Stowe and Smuggs may still be open, check the mountain stats from last season... I would take Smuggs over Mountainside, but not sure if the pass through the Notch will be open so you may not be able to drive to Stowe from Smuggs.
Cape Cod will likely be very cold, still very off season |

New England
We are not skiers. I have family in NH, MA and ME and am looking for something that we could visit with them a bit. The Cape in April would be cold, but we are hoping not too cold to bike some. They have a great bike path we have done before.

Newport is a great town. I just saw that part of your post. If it were me, I'd pick whichever was closest to the people I wanted to visit. Smuggs is about 7 hours from NYC, btw.

I personally would choose Newport. It would likely be in the lower 50's (but since you come from the NE and will be heading out of the winter months...it would likely feel decent enough). They have the mansions to tour, lots of local shopping, good restaurants, historical sites, nearby (on-the-ocean) stateparks to wander, and Jamestown is just around the corner.
Providence is not far...nor is Boston for that matter...both are close enough for easy day trips. Both FF's are smack downtown and in decent locations. The only down side would be visiting family in NH and ME...but maybe they could drive down and meet you? Yep...I'd choose Newport. Lots to do if I choose...and an ocean to enjoy if I choose to do nothing but sit and read with a class of wine or cup of cappuccino. ![]() |
