Hotel/Car - John Wayne airport ?

Hi All,

two spearate questions really -

Any recommendations on a reasonable minivan rental at the airport? the majors are charging quite a bit....

Also, my family of five is going to need a hotel recommendation near the airport as we need to fly out early in the morning and are being told not to try driving from Desert Springs to catch a flight... Any recommendations for an inexpensive and convenient hotel?

I have no knowledge of the area...

thanks!!

I don't know about the car, but all the major hotel chains have properties around John Wayne.

I did a quick search on Hilton's site. There is a downtown Irvine Hilton, an Embassy Suite, Doubletree and Hampton Inn at the airport.

Use expedia or one of your favorite brand hotels and search using IRVINE, CA as the city and you should find plenty of info.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

I couldn't tell from your post if you are driving from Desert Springs the day before, but if you are, have you considered a park-n-fly? We did this once and stayed at the Crowne Plaza near the airport. You can leave your car in their parking lot free for up to 7 days and they provide a free shuttle to the airport.

We just arrived the night before and stayed one night. There's no stress getting to the airport and your car is in their gated parking lot while you're gone. When you get back from your trip, you call the shuttle, they pick you up and take you to your car.

Thanks just to clarify...

We're flying on Continental from NJ on Nov 20 then spending 3 nights at the Marriott Newport Coastal Villas. then off to the Desert for three more nights.

We're flying back to NJ out Monday morning , Nov 27th, (7:40AM flight!!) which has led us to consider leaving the Desert the day before and sleeping near the airport that night... I wouldnt mind returning the car in the evening with the knowledge that the hotel could shuttle us over in the early AM.

Thanks!!

Hotwire has a Van for the dates for $41 /day

Hotwire also has a 3* with airport shuttle for $69 and a 4* with shuttle for $95

Hope that helps

Hope this helps.

If you have a family of 5, you might want to try the Embassy Suite. It is around the corner from John Wayne Airport. The hotel is fairly new. You can visit Southcoast Plaza nearby or the Irvine Spectrum Entertainment Center. All nearby.
