Is anyone familiar with Festiva Ellington resort in SC south of Myrtle Beach ? This resort is rated as 5 star by II (both EWE and EW1) but there seems to be unusual availability for the summer of 2007. Where does the new supply come from ? Have they built additional accomodations or refurbished an older building ? Does the resort really deserve a 5 star rating in terms of amenities and housekeeping ? We have been to Myrtle Beach but have never seen this Festiva resort. Grateful for any comments.

Ellington is a nice resort with decent rooms. It is located in Murrrell's Inlet, which is in a very nice area south of the strip. The rooms were fairly large, well-appointed and the amenities nice. If you are a golfer, this is the place for you. The only downside is that you are "encouraged" to attend your standard 90 minute sales pitch to buy a timeshare. The usual stuff. If you are strong you can get out without buying anything (if you hold out, you can get some cash). Also, the walls in the rooms are somewhat thin (an alarm in the next room kept going off early and waking us up. It was quite a pain in the behind until we complained). All in all though, I would check the place out. You will have a good time. As far as I am concerned I found the Murrell's Inlet area to be very desireable. There is a mini-boardwalk with great resteraunts and shopping. You are very close to a public beach, and have access, via freeway, to all surrounding areas. Hope this was helpful.

Thanks, this is helpful. Would you venture to guess how many units are there in this resort ? Say, approximately, 30.?. ..50 ?...100 ?... more ? Are they all two bdr. units ? I am trying to estimate how many people would be sharing their pool and other amenities during summer holidays ? As to the sales pitch, my standard practice is to advise that I am not interested in incentives and not in a buying mood at any price.

There were several buildings. Ellington is building new units as well. I would guess a few hundred.
