Is there a resort that is within walking distance to Colonial Williamsburg? I have not been there in many, many years but plan to go and would like to walk instead of driving to get to the center of the historic town. I am looking at staying at the Manor but was wondering if another place was closer. Thanks so much.

You will get more responces if you post in the "US - Eastern" section of the forum.

Manor Club is a short drive to Colonial Williamsburg and also within the very nice Ford's Colony subdivision.

There will be several TS within walking distance but I don't think that any of them haved opened yet. I've heard of a planned TS by Bluegreen and also by another TS company.

Westgate has a timeshare that is about 1.5 miles to the Merchant's Square area of Colonial Williamsburg. That's the closest one. You could try to walk from Patriot's Place to the Visitor's Center (about two miles), but you would have to cross major roads.

I'll have to ask another question though.

What are you planning on doing in Williamsburg?

Colonial Williamsburg could keep you busy for about three days, but there is also Jamestown, Yorktown, the historic Plantations, Busch Gardens, Water Country, etc. All of them are 10-20 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg and not walkable.

You need a car in Williamsburg to get from place to place.

I vote for staying at Manor Club and driving to where you want to go.

On the other hand, if you have time to stay for a few days and don't want a timeshare, I recommend staying in a Colonial House in Colonial Williamsburg. You will be in the middle of everything Colonial and the experience is really neat.

Thanks

My 3 sisters and I are going to have our first all girl week at Williamsburg in October 2007. I am planning on using an AC that I got recently. None of them have ever been there and knowing them they will be thrilled with seeing the historic village. I am sure we will do some exploring also. We all LOVE to walk though. From what I keep reading the Manor Club would be our best choice. I am looking forward to spoiling my sisters some. Thanks for all your help.

The other great reason for Manor Club is that they have a spa on sight. You can have some fun there also. If walking is your thing, there is a 3 mile and 6 mile walking trail (all on streets of the gated community) in Ford's Colony.
