latest Owners Only Special

just sat thru a presentation and rep gave me an Owners Only Special for Fairway Villas. Unfortunately, I dont have all info except from sheet - I got interupted by an urgent phone call from work which took me away from most of the presentation- but it seems this is for 2 bdrm units.

what you guys think in terms of buying directly from MVCI for owners wanting an additional week or two VERSUS resale?

The 75K points/year for the rest of your life-
does that mean you can exchange the unit annually for points? I am assuming they are not giving you a purchase incentive in perpetuity (that, on the other hand, would be interesting...).

I'll clarify today - like I said, the rep handed the info sheet to my wife to give to me as I took off 1/3 into the presentation. but for kicks, I read it as they will give you annually not for exchanging.

I did the closing this year for a 2 Bedroom Unit there which sold for $4,400. Pretty pricey points you would be buying.

I checked on this. As expected, the future points are earned only if you choose to exchange the use of your week in those years, paying the MF and the points exchange fee to do so. That's the same as the "every year" trade-for-points option now offered at a number of resorts.

Seems like a good deal...if you are Marriott. Not so good if you are the buyer.

Are these truly "owners only" offers and what is so "special" about it? It sounds like a double dose of sales hype.

It's an "owners only" offer because of the self-referral points. Those self-referral points, listed above for the purchase of a single week, are also available to current owners for purchases of 2 and 3 weeks. Except for those points, anyone should be able to get the same deal.

My 'hard working' rep called me back...the "xxx points every year" is for exchanging your annual week, like Dave said. I had three other ppl read the flyer I received, and all four of us still think the wording sounds like MVCI's giving us points PLUS use of annual usage of the week(s). LOL, I got my hopes up just a little there.

Well, one good thing is if MVCI did give free pts each yr in addition to use of the week, this IMO would greatly diminish the value of points. It's like the US Fed printing/dumping extra cash into the economy - inflation (devaluation of the $dollar) may be the result.
