Transfering an II exchange when you sell the underlying week?

I'm pretty sure that I know the answer to this, but I wanted to check.

I know it is strictly prohibited to rent out an exchange. However, I have someone who wants to buy one of my timeshare weeks. They would like to use the 2007 week for a trade, but that 2007 week has already been deposited into my II account. Can I search for an exchange for them, using the 2007 week from that resort (and/or using the 2007 Accomodation Certificate for that week), and then transfer the exchange to the new buyer, using the Guest Certificate?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, II will allow that.

Instead, you could ask II to issue a replacement week certificate to the new owner to replace your deposit, although there is no guarantee that it will have the same trading power as your deposit. The expiration date will be the same as the expiration date for your deposited week. No extension is allowed.

Further, if you had only that one resort in your II account (which apparently is not the case), you could transfer your II account to the new owner, if the new owner agrees to pay to extend the membership by at least a year.

Thanks very much for the extremely prompt reply, Dave!

I don't want to transfer the account because I have two other weeks that trade through II, that are in that account.

The buyer is actually hoping for an Orlando reservation for this upcoming January or February, so it will likely take too long to transfer the deed, set up the new owner's II account, and get a replacement week certificate that the new owner can use in their account. This is why it would work better for me to simply find the buyer an exchange with my account, and get them a guest certificate.

My main concern is that the exchange will probably be to a Disney Vacation Club unit, and I know that Interval has had a problem with members trying to rent out exchanges into the Disney Vacation Club, and has canceled some members' Interval accounts for renting out Disney exchanges. So, I wanted to make that what I was doing is definitely within the rules. I've been really happy with II -- I don't want any problems with them!
