Rockefeller Tree

Tomorrow is my youngest daughters 3rd Birthday and we are heading into Manhattan to take our kids to the Museum of Natural History and of course the Christmas tree! I can't recall if it is lit during the day or only at night? Also if anyone has some hints about what else to see/do were to eat in the area, that would be appreciated!

She's still little, but I think she would like Ellen's Stardust Diner, it's on Broadway and 51st. The singing waitstaff will sing her a great 'Happy Birthday," and they have a kid-friendly but decent menu (theme is a 1950s diner).

Even if the tree isn't lit, it will be impressive. And remember, it gets dark early!

Great thanks! Our 7 year old twins are going to LOVE every minute of it! The singing wait staff was just was I was thinking! Of course tomorrow is going to be FREEZING but that's okay, we'll bundle up!

The lights are on during the day but of course it's not as lovely as at night.

Also, the cafeteria on the 4th floor of Natl History is a good place for a break - good selection, well prepared foods, lots of desserts (like cup of dirt with pudding and gummy worms) as well as upscale stuff , salad bar, wraps, sandwiches, and a hot cook to order section in the back.
