Which Scottsdale unit should I take?

We are trying to decide between RCI # 5247 Sheraton Desert Oasis (a 1 BR unit) and RCI # 4041 Sunterra Villa Mirage (choice of 1 or 2 BR unit). Both are Gold Crown, and TUG rated 8.31 and 8.45 respectively. Both are located in north Scottsdale. No children, two adults.

TUG reviews look good for both except that there are repeated references to the furniture being too large and clunky at the Sheraton Desert Oasis.

Thanks for any opinions,

Diane

We had the same choice to make a few years ago. It seems like both resorts are excellent but we chose the Villa Mirage and were very happy there. One nice thing about the Villa Mirage is that all the units are really equal (no particularly good or bad spots that we could see). We never saw the Desert Oasis so don't know what we missed there.

Scottsdale

Diane if you can get the large 1 bedroom(full kitchen) at Desert Oasis that is a very nice unit. I stayed there last year.

If the pool area makes a difference to you I would choose the Desert Oasis. The pool at the Villa Mirage is not very large and can be very crowded.

Thanks so much for the helpful comments, especially about the pool at Villa Mirage as I do enjoy swimming.

We stayed at the Desert Oasis last year, and while the pool is large, it isn't for swimming laps (my wife's exercise). There is a large new park across the street for walking or jogging (my idea of fun!). We visited the Villa Mirage and felt the size & "feel" of the complex left alot to be desired - probably more family oriented than our taste. Either way, enjoy your trip to Scottsdale.

Villa Mirage for Units, Desert Oasis for Pool

I like both resorts. The units are nicer at Villa Mirage. Much better layout. The pool and grounds are nicer at the Desert Oasis. Just so everyone doesn't get the wrong idea, the pool at Villa Mirage is average size for a timeshare complex and is a great pool as well (just not as large as the Desert Oasis and not zero-clearance).

Does anyone have a map layout of the Sheraton Desert Oasis? We traded into unit 2055 and I am trying to find informaiton on the location of this unit. II shows it as 1 bedroom, but it better be the premium 1 bedroom as we are supposed to have a full kitchen.

Thanks in advace for your help!

I don't have a map but if it is a full kitchen - it has a "K" next to it when u did your exchange - the smaller units have a "LK" .
Do you remember which letter(s) you saw?

It said K. I should be ok. I just wanted to make sure!

Thanks!

Michelle

YUP - YOU WILL ENJOY YOUR UNIT.

the smaller Desert Oasis 1 BD uit

The reivews are pretty clear that it is VERY small - those that have been there, what do you think about it.
I too, have a choice between that and the Mirage and I enjoy the lap swimming.

Thanks

We stayed in a one-bedroom larger unit and it was wonderful. I have never slept in such a comfortable bed in all my life! We got a brief peek into one of the smaller units and it indeed seemed very teeny.

Michelle I don't know if you have gone to the Desert Oasis yet but when I was going through some papers from our Mar trip I noticed that we did stay in unit 2055. It is a large 1 bedroom and we liked the location. It is in the centre of the resort so you are not facing the street and it is close to the pool.
