No new air fares yet

still waiting for southwest to post beyond May 10. Last year it was already posted because we booked on Jan 13 for May 19 departure.

I just received a SW ding, but no new air fares. Getting anxious to book!!

Reading flyer talk, they say may not be until Feb 8 now

It looks as though the release date will be February 8 - about four weeks later for May travel dates than in the past. Here is a post from the SWA blog:

However–just so you’ll know–we are TENTATIVELY planning to make May, as well as June, July, and most of August, available for booking on or about February 8. This date can change, which is why we don’t typically publicize it.

Look for my blog piece explaining the “method to our madness” soon!

Bill Owen is the Scheduling Planning Lead Planner for SWA.

He also responded to the frequently asked question as to why the airline doesn't allow ticketing further out into the future (e.g., 330 days) like other airlines do:
Quote:
It really boils down to one, very simple reason: We don’t like to confirm a reservation to a Customer, and then have to change their schedule.
You can read the rest of his comments on that subect here.
