Does anyone know what typical weather is like in Vegas in early March? We are planning our first trip to Vegas then, I need t know how to plan/pack.

I know that question gets asked a lot here. If you do a search and use "Las Vegas weather" you'll pull back lots of threads both with info and with links to weather sites. I would hesitate to predict weather anywhere these days though.

I'll be interested in what you find out though since we'll be going in early March as well. I'll probably wait until a day or two before we leave to figure out what to pack.

We're usually in Vegas during the second week of March. Wind can sometimes be an issue but, since we live in Kansas, we don't notice it. Most of the time day time temps are pleasant and I get by wearing t-shirts and shorts. My wife, on the other hand, is more comfortable in either slacks or jeans. At night temps drop down low enough that a light jacket or sweater works well.

As far as swimming, you can swim but, IMO, it's a little chilly. The night time temps can get cool enough and the day time temps don't get warm enough so that the water temp gets very warm. That is unless the pool is heated, which some are. There's only been one time when I swam in Vegas in March and that was when we had our daughter and her cousin with us. They just HAD to swim, even though it was a little chilly. I guess kids can swim in any water so long as there's not a layer of ice covering it.

www.weatherunderground.com is a great weather site, as you can pick any day up to 10(?) years in the past and see it's weather.

My wife and I meet up with her brother and his family in Vegas annually, the week before Easter, whose date is literally all over the map. I think last year it was Apr 11-15, next year it's Mar 15-20 (still Winter!). Most end up being the last week of March. I'd say the temperate averages the low 70's.

Last year (mid-Apr) I think it was in the 80's, very nice. The year before I believe it was mid/late March, and I remember high 60's some days. Pools will be cold.

When in doubt, layer. Vegas is in the desert. Warm days can transition into very cool nights. Bring a sweater or jacket that you can easily take on and off--maybe even roll up and stuff into your bag.
