Arranged to rent my timeshare 12 months prior to use. When should I start advertising this rental ......6 months, 8 months, 12 months prior to use date? Is it ever too early to advertise?

I dont follow what you mean. You say you arranged to rent your timeshare 12 months prior to use. That sounds like you have it rented already.
Normally I would advertise starting a year or so in advance.

I own a floating week at marriott...I reserved Xmas week from marriott, so I can rent a primetime week...That's what I meant when I said "Arranged to rent my TS 12 months prior to use" Have not as yet rented it.

If you start a year in advance; when do you get the most hits.

I get no interest whatever in my NCV Easter week until January. This surprised me the first couple of years. Christmas week might be different, particularly in Hawaii or a great ski resort.

I don't think there's any down side to advertising early, though. Redweek gives 6 months for $19.99, so I'd start 6 or perhaps 7 months in advance.

I have had a week at a top ten resort listed here on tug for this summer and am the lowest priced unit on tug, for a few months and have not yet rented it out. I am about to ist it somewhere else as well, which would be a better choice redweek.com or myresortnetwork.com?

I had a NYC July 4th week rented at redweek in about a week. I listed it in mid December. I did it that way because a redweek rental is for only 6 months so factor that in. I'd list it on some boards for free for now then I'd do the redweek thing in June- that gives you about 6 months. Just price it well- that is- under everyone else's...

Maybe that should depend on where you decide to put ad on. Go to the site you want to put ad. Think if you are look for a vacation how you going to find one like yours in that site. And assume you just want a vacation, and see how hard to find a resort like yours on that site.

Then you look at the price of putting an Ad on that site and how long it last. If it is free for live and it is easy to find an ad you want to vacation even if there is a long list of ad, then I will put for live. :D

Redweek's fee is good for 6 month, so I will back time it. Assume I will give up the rent at 1 or 2 month period and put it back to exchange or cancel it, then I put on 7 or 8 month before the trave day.

Some site is free, but it is not easy to look around, or the search ability is not that good unless you type in exact resort name, so more likely, the recent post ad will be seen. If that is the case, you have to assume most of the renters will only go through that many, and check with people around you to see how long ago they plan the trip, then make a reasonableguess and put ad around that time frame.

vacationtimeshareforrent allows you to see the hit statistic, it has free and payed ad choice. If you don't really care if it get rent or not (your finacial is not depend on that income), you should put you ad there and watch the hit count, it will give you some indication when people start looking for rental.

If I have to guess, I will choose 3 to 4 month range. But I have very little experience on it. I look at these sites try to find something to rent from most of the time.

Good luck.
