charter catamaran cruise

We are planning a trip to the Virgin Islands and this time we plan to charter a catamaran for 5 - 7 days instead of staying on land (all inclusive type charter with crew). I have found a few companies - Elite Island Yachts, The Moorings, VI Sailing - and wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with any of these charter companies, good or bad. Also, if you know of a good charter service. Will be a party of 6 (3 couples).

It was years ago but we were extremely happy with The Moorings. They have been around for a long time. I think our first bareboat charter was back in '85 or so. We also used them in the Grenadines. Sorry I'm not more up to date. I would question total all inclusive though. One of the things we loved in the BVI's was going to dinner at some of the exclusive (very expensive) resorts. The dinners weren't all that expensive (you could do lunch instead but you'll probably be sailing) and we got to frequent places we wouldn't normally. Also, rotis at Norman Island's pirate ship shouldn't be missed! JMHO, Linda

Virgin Traders

Hi,

About 4 years ago we did a Motor Yacht charter with Virgin Traders - you can look them up on line - I believe they also do cats. They were very good - had a problem with the air conditioning the first night and they swapped boats for us right away. Don't miss Cooper's Island, the Bitter End, or St. Johns.

Have Fun!!

Deb

See this linked thread from last year for some kudos for the Moorings.
