Dates for Nascar 2008?

We are always in Vegas the second week of March. I believe the race has fallen on the second weekend of March for the last several years.
 
Notice that I said "I believe." IOW, I'm not 100% certain. I do know that NASCAR has always been on or about the time we're in Vegas and we are always in Vegas the same timeframe every year.
 
whooo hooo.....it's almost here.....that awesome sweet smell of high octane racing fuel. Picking black rubber flecks out of your teeth for 2 days after the race is over........chicken leg bones sailing over your head.

Cars double file nose to bumper for several laps following the green flag start 200+ mph (oh wait that's pre-restrictor plate) (sigh).

It's enough to make a woman feel like a school girl again. ;) Or at least it does this school girl....err....I mean lady. :cheer:

I think those are the dates for 2007. But, as far as I can remember, it's alway been the same weekend of March.

Those are the 2007 dates. I missed the 2008 part of the original question:)

You're probably not far off. My bet is that the 2008 dates will be March 7th, 8th and 9th. That's the second weekend of March, like I said, I don't think the timing of that race has varied since it began. I'm almost certain that it's the second week of March every year. If they held it any later they be competing with the March Madness crowds for hotel rooms. As it is, that weekend is almost always sold out now. You wouldn't want it to compete with another event that draws big crowds to Vegas as you'd be potentially turning business away (from a hotel standpoint).
 
I looked up the dates for past NASCAR week races in LV and came up with this since 2001:

March 4th, 2001
March 3rd, 2002
March 2nd, 2003
March 7th, 2004
March 13th, 2005
March 12th, 2006
March 11th, 2007

So it appears that the last 3 races have been the second weekend of March but the first 4 appear to have been the first weekend of March.

Nothing is for certain but, I'd still bet on the second weekend of March 2008 which would put the race on March 9th, 2008.

Perhaps they found the crowds were still a little to thin so close to Feb. for their tastes or perhaps fan feed back indicated it needed to be later in the month. I'm not certain why it would have changed from the first weekend after three years to the second weekend but that appears to be what's happened.

Travel packages for 2008 have been released. It looks like NASCAR weekend will be the 7th, 8th and 9th for 2008 with the race being on the 9th. The travel packages I'm seeing are at http://www.sportstravel.com/index.php?func=pst.Search&q=las+vegas&x=0&y=0

Edit to note the details of the package say don't book your airfare as the dates have not been confirmed. However, for the last few years NASCAR has been the week we arrive in Vegas for our yearly trip and we're booked to arrive that weekend.
