Airline Prices
What is going on with Airline prices??
I need to go from Michigan to Orlando the week before Easter. If I fly from Flint, Michigan its $1000 per ticket almost for non-stop! Thats about double the normal price. If I fly from Detroit, It will be about $500 per ticket for non-stop... and thats just way higher than usual. It would be cheaper for me to fly to the caribbean. $1000 per ticket will get me to Hawaii.... ![]() |

I do not know what dates you need but leaving Detroit on April 2nd and returning April 9th from Orlando Northwest Airlines direct flight is $267 tax included. Try going on nwa.com to get prices. We are flying to Orlando from Detroit March 9th to 16th and our price was $780 total Canadian dollars for all 3 of us.

Amy, try spirit airlines. We are leaving Detroit on Good Friday for Easter Week and paid a little over 300 pp roundtrip to Orlando. I booked those tickets a couple of months ago. I have seen them way cheaper since then for the same flights and also more expensive too. The fares tend to bob up and down. No rhyme or reason to it. Just check all different times of day.
Good Luck, Laurie |

There have been a few times that I have been able to book tickets cheaper through TPA than MCO. If you flight is a little later in the day going to Clearwater is a way of using up a couple of hours before your flight.

The week before Easter (this year) from Michigan is absolutely the highest priced/demand time for flights because soooo many schools have that week as Spring Break. It seems that all the flights from west Michigan (and those from Detroit/Flint/Chicago Midway etc.) fill up quite quickly, so this is relatively late to get an inexpensive seat for those dates. As a retired teacher from Michigan, I have priced/purchased tickets for those dates for many years.
I know that this doesn't help you now, but it is smart to purchase tickets for those dates as early as possible. I suggest you keep checking prices for your desired dates on a website like kayak, and hope that prices go down!
