Waiting to Book Flight Pays Off
I kept putting off getting my tickets to Dayton for 2/17. The cheapest fares were on NW & DL and I wanted to fly on UA or US because of my status. I checked tonight and lo and behold UA had a fare from Allentown for only $179. It had been over $400. I'm a happy camper!

I know what you mean - I waited until Southwest Air opened up their date range, check every day, and got an unbelieveable deal, 2 actually. Flying from Providence RI to Tampa $152 PP round trip for May and from Providence to Phoenix, Las Vegas to Providence $198 PP round trip non stop for June. These are the cheapest flights I've ever booked. Got to love Southwest Air. I got all internet specials. You have to book early to get the deals with Southwest and again check a couple times a day.

You got a great deal!! Know what you mean about Southwest! We're flying to Tampa the end of March from Providence ~ picked up the tickets when the block first opened ~ last Nov. Check out the one way internet specials ~ cheapest. $69. one way, $140. RT. Can get some great deals there, if you keep checking!

Good job Pat
![]() You can set up alerts on FareCompare which use their historical matrix to send you updates with relevant fare reductions for your desired city pairs. I get such about 3-4 times per day, either by e-mail or SMS, in advance of the fares being published to the GDS. This is exactly how I get the mistake fares I fly, along with the good deals like you experienced. I assume you're in the 5/10/25 promo ending 2/28, yes? If not, check F/T to see if you qualify... Yes, I get FareCompare alerts everyday and I did sign up for 5/10/25 promo even though I didn't think I would have any UA flights that qualified. I ended up with 3! Goes to show that you should sign up for all those promos anyway.
