Priceline hotel questions
Name your own price.
Does anyone have any information or a website that gives you tips on how this works. I am interested in booking rooms in the Myrtle Beach area but I only want to stay in ocean front rooms. I don't know if this is even possible. I know how the basic system works but I want to specify ocean front or not. |

I have used Priceline many times, with great results in terms of price. The two sites to look at for advice are...
www.biddingfortravel.com www.betterbidding.com There is no way to specify oceanfront rooms or oceanview rooms. All you are guaranteed is a room that sleeps two people in the specific area you have chosen, at the star level you have chosen. Anything over and above that (including basic things like nonsmoking, two queen beds versus one king bed) is up to the kindness of the hotel management. And because you got the room so cheap, you are at the bottom of the pecking order. That said, I've gotten great deals in major cities, looking for three- or four-star hotels only. To me the Priceline idea does not work so well outside major cities. I don't know Myrtle Beach at all, so I don't know what kinds of hotels they have. |

If you want a specific room location, then Priceline is not the way to go. You'll get a run of the house room and since you've been given a discount by purchasing through Priceline, you'll be the lowest man on the totem pole for room location. Hotels get a premium for their ocean front rooms so you'll have to book that specific location directly from the hotel itself or other online booking engine that allows you to specify view.
