Hi Everyone,

My husband and I will be visiting Palm Springs next month. This will be our very first visit there, so I have some golf questions. Is there a website that provides discounts on Palm Spring/Rancho Mirage golf courses? Or better yet, an economical golf course that isn't too far away from Westin Mission Hills?

Since my husband hasn't been golfing in quite a while, I would like to "treat" him to a game of golf.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance~

Trish,

Is there any reason why you don't want the course actually at WMH? You're right on it, the fees are reasonable, and the course will be 'helpful' to someone a bit rusty at the game, if you know what I mean!

Trish, the fees at Mission Hills are pretty expensive in my view - $165 a round at the time you will be there.

Here is a good website that describes many of the courses here and provides rates: http://www.palmsprings.com/golf.html

If you are flexible, there are a couple of tee reservation services that provide reasonable rates for golf the next day. Sorry, I can't remember the names offhand but if you look in the yellow pages when you're here, you'll easily see which ones I am talking about. If you call them the afternoon prior to when you want to play, they generally have many courses to choose from at pretty reasonable rates. (The tee times are last-minute cancellations).

Good luck.

I just can't stomach paying over $100 for golf. I have priced Westin's golf course, but they are just too high. Heck, I think paying $50 for ONE golf game is too high. :p

What can I say? I'm a cheapie.

Thanks, Gary. I'll look at that website. I think what you're talking about is Stand-By Golf?

Does Palm Springs have a Municipal Golf Course, by any chance?
Plus, he isn't planning on taking his clubs, so he'll need a place that will rent them out.

Thanks for the prompt responses.

We have used Stand-By Golf in Palm Springs and had good luck but this was a few years ago. You should be able to find golf for $50 a round and if you're lucky a little less. Their website is discountteetimes.com and I noticed they have as office on Hwy 111 close to the Oasis Resort next door to Vons.

Hi Lynn,

That link provided discounted stand-by golf in Arizona??? I didn't see Palm Springs listed. Nevertheless, I'm keeping this link handy because we ARE planning on going to Arizona later on this year.

I believe I have found the perfect website that provides discounted golf rates in Palm Springs.

http://www.standbygolf.com/

I think this will work perfectly. It lists most prices at each course, their over seeding timeframe, and their rating. Some of the prices are definitely within my price range. :whoopie:

I went 3 years ago, and found EZ Links saved me ALOT of money. Unfortunately, those offers are much less now:

https://specials.ezlinks.com/Specials.asp

(The only one I see for the next week 2/27/07 is the Marriott courses---regularly $150, for $89.99).

Now, I hope you can make some sense of my 3 year old document that it pasted below. (The distances are from the Mariott, not the Westin.)

Sorry Trish I thought it was the same website for Arizona and California. I'm glad you found the right one! We have never paid more than $50 for golf in Palm Springs. Where will you be staying? I know that some of the resorts have deals with different courses for their guests. We stayed at Lawrence Welk Desert Oasis a few years ago and got 3 rounds for $85.

Thanks, Pat, for the links. Btw, I understood your document perfectly.

Lynn, We'll be staying at WMH. I don't know if they offer discounts or not, but even if they do, I think it will still be too high.

$50 is definitely my price range. :D

Trish, you're absolutely correct about "Stand-by-Golf". That's the service I used whenever we were down here vacationing. Now that I live here, I don't use it anymore. But you won't be able to beat their prices when you call them. You can try to call them 2 days in advance and they may have some tee times but you ususally get your best rates by calling the day before.

Enjoy the desert.

Gary, I agree. "Stand-by-Golf" seems to be the most economical choice. I believe I have found a golf course that I think will be suitable. It's close enough to WMH and the price is right. I have emailed "Stand-by-Golf" to make a reservation since RMCC lets you make it 30 days in advance.

So.... anyone have any opinions on Rancho Mirage Country Club Golf?

Thanks so much!!

Trish,

Sorry, I forgot that my idea of reasonable fees at WMH is based on the pretty hefty discount I get as an owner there! If I had a brain, I'd be dangerous.

Good luck with RMCC - never played there but it looks OK. And great value.

Hey, not a problem at all. I appreciated your help.

We've already heard from Stand-by-Golf. Now we just need to call them to confirm our reservation. Guess we're all set.

Thanks everyone for all your help.

Thanks so much, Pat. I'll take a look at that website and see if they have anything of interest.
