I'm new to time sharing/vacation clubs and have been talking to Hilton Vacation Club about their new Lake Lands property on the big island. The preconstruction price is $26.000 for a one-bedroom-plus unit in the Gold season (6,300 points) with annual maintenance fee of $1,367 -- plus 10,000 bonus points if I settle this month. The representative says the units will go for $50,000 when it opens in 2008. I have read the Timesharing 101 document and the comments on Hilton. Does this sound like a good deal if I vacation regularly in Hawaii? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated before I make a stupid plunge....

Don't do it.
