I attended the Learning Annex Wealth Expo at the Javits Center in NYC in November for 2 long tedious days. It had many of the same and/or similar speakers. Each had a program to sell, many costing upwards of $2,000.. Some who bought them later learned that they would be hit up again and again for "up-sells" i.e. more charges to purchase advanced portions of the basic program.
I felt truly sorry for the hordes of young people (late teens through late 20's) who fell victim to these slick sale pitches. I am very disappointed to see "the Donald" lending his name to the whole sordid affair. He spoke in person late on the last day. He was supposed to speak for about 45 minutes but droned on and on for about two hours. I'm one of the few I know who have actually liked Trump through the years. But this "speech" cured me, big time. He was on a total ego trip and at the same time seemed like a very senior citizen taking a trip down "memory lane." He told too many boring stories about deals he had made, and then lamely tried to connect it to some vague message for the audience about devoting your efforts to things you are "passionate about." And telling the attendees that if they want something badly enough, they will find a way to make it happen.
Trump mentioned during the speech that he is now a part owner (or is it major investor?) in the Learning Annex. Like he really needs the money!!! Shame on him for luring all these hopeful young people to a seminar, designed to extract money they probably can't afford, to buy over-priced "programs" that will probably be of no benefit to them. I fear Trump has no social conscience, no appreciation of the age-old concept of "giving back to the community." And now he is apparently leading his son down the same road.
By taking so much time to say nothing worth hearing, the classes scheduled to follow Trump's speech began very late. The poor diehards who attended stumbled out into the dark streets of Manhattan close to midnight on a Sunday evening, having given up an entire weekend to hear multiple sales pitches disguised as "classes" to teach them how to get rich.
So sad :annoyed:
P.S. In case you are wondering why I went, I was paid to write an article about it. Believe me, if they offered me a fortune to do so again, I would decline.
