Well, I'm really excited now thanks to all the help of the great people on this BB!! I just confirmed a 2-bedroom suite at the Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta for May 2, 2008. This is my first experience with exchanging and with RCI, so I'm really pleased that it all went so smoothly, we got what we wanted, and I'm really happy with everything so far! We can't wait to go!!

If anyone has any suggestions of great things to do in that area, please feel free to make recommendations! My daughters (22 and 24) love exciting nightlife, ALL water activities (one used to intern as a dolphin research center), and exploring! Is a rental car necessary or is there good transportation to get everywhere?

I am so glad that I found and joined TUG. Thanks to all who have given recommendations and advice!

Pam

Great first exchange!

Pam
You are going to love it at Grand Mayan. We were just there at Christmas and it is very impressive. Have a wonderful holiday.

Vallarta Adventures has their office and main facilities in NV not far from where you will be. I mention this because it sounds like your daughter and maybe the rest of your group may be interested in water activities. They also have a Dolphin center for the tourists. I don't know if this would interest your daughter. They also have a trained sea lion that I dove with down at Las Calietas (sp). At that time the sea lion was swimming in a wild environment and it would come at the trainers command. I was just down there 3 weeks ago and dove with Vallarta Adventures, but didn't do anything with or ask about the "animal encounters".
We walked thru the Grand Mayan while staying at the Mayan Palace. At that time the GM was open but not completed. You should have a great vacation.
For nightlife, and there is lots of it, your daughters will probably need to go into Puerto Vallarta. Warn them of the land sharks!!!!

Would you mind my asking what you used to trade into the Grand Mayan? I have been trying unsuccessfully to get the week after yours and am only able to get 1BR Mayan Palaces. Thanks!

Pam - you made a great choice. Lots to do and a fun place to go. THe resort is wonderful.

What I traded

Hi there,

You will not believe the luck I had. I traded a 1-bedroom condo in Vail (mid October 2006 week) for that 2-bedroom GM. I don't ski, and I already live in Colorado, so I actually got both of my Colorado timeshare units for exchanging. I think we did REALLY good with that week!

Pam

You should really enjoy the Grand Mayan. We stayed there in an Ocean view unit for 2 weeks last April on an exchange through SFX. Personally, I would not rent a car.

Regarding "land sharks", they both are in serious long-term relationships and really good at warding them off. The three of us just took a trip to Vegas in February and they did some heavy clubbing a couple of nights. Those were their first words to guys offering to buy them drinks or asking them to dance....."If you're looking to get laid, not gonna happen, so keep looking......you want to talk and dance? No problem. " LOL
