I have a question about my daughter's new MP3 player. (figured out what one to get from searching through Tug Lounge topics! ) We really like the player, Sansa c240, it is so easy to use, even I understand it. The batteries charge by plugging its USB cord into the PC. I was just wondering if there are any other ways of charging it while traveling? We might bring the laptop on the next trip, or we might not. If we don't have a laptop with us, what are our options? Any converters that we can get? I've been on the SanDisk website, but Tug is so much friendlier!
Thanks,
Maureen

I got so tired of buying various batteries for electronic gizmos that my travel kit now includes a supply of rechargeable AA and AAA batteries, along with a recharger unit. If you do that, you can solve more problems than just your daughters MP3; you'll have batteries for your camera and other devices.

If you want to go a step farther, stop by an electronics store such as Fry's and get a small inverter to convert 12-volt auto (from the cigarette lighter) into a 11-volt outlet. Then plug your battery recharger into the inverter and you can recharge batteries as you drive. If you take a lot of pictures with a digital camera as you tour areas (as I am wont to do), that assures that I never run out of batteries.

Problem is that many MP3 players use small Li-Ion batteries...some are not removable. Creative Labs has some wall chargers for their MP3 players and there are other 3rd party accessories out there. Do a google search on "wall charger + mp3" to find some possible options.

Radio Shack also sells a "universal" recharger that operates off the cigarette lighter. The recharger is universal, but you also need to get the appropriate adapter to connect the device to the recharger.

Make sure you get a wall charger with a long cord.

For iPod users: I bought wall chargers and car chargers for every iPod in our house (6). I found a seller on eBay that charged $.99 per item. The shipping was $6.99 for the first and $2.99 for each additional.

Thank you

Thank you for all of the suggestions! I appreciate your help. I'm off to research your options now and see what I can find.
Thanks,
Maureen
