Broadway Show "Avenue Q", OK for older teens?

Any opinions if Avenue Q is OK for older (16 & 18) teens? Will their parents be squirming in their seats?

Thanks,
Gayle

My 16yo has seen it and loved it. If you're...how shall I say..."modern," it should be okay. There's a song about internet porn and another where the "Ernie" character talks about how he would still be friends with the "Bert" character if he were gay. All the songs are light and funny. Also I think there's simulated puppet sex with a girl puppet naked at least from the waist up. DD can't remember how naked she was!

look on tripadvisor nyc forums

there was recently a thread about this very same subject on tripadvisor new york city forums. I saw the play a few years ago (my kids were babies) so I didn't look at it from that perspective. I know I loved the show and would recommend it to others with my sense of humor.

I took my my 13 year old to see it. I was definitely more squirmy then she was at the full puppet nudity including a second of puppet oral sex. My daughter said I gasped. That said we both enjoyed it despite some of the inappropriateness perhaps my daughter because of it. I chalked it down to sex education and at 14 she hasn't turned into a sex crazed teen despite the exposure. I definitely wouldn't have concerns with a 16 and 18 they see far more in PG13 movies or even on TV these days.
