The seller and I have agreed to a price from his t/s he is selling on buyandselltimeshares.com. Once I complete my information, including my address, it states it gets sent to the closing company.
How do I find out what closing company and is it in my best interest to pick one or does buyandselltimeshares do it for me.
Thank you.
Below is the e-mail from buyandselltimeshares

You are receiving this email because of your interest in purchasing a timeshare (ID XXX) from an owner on BuyandSellTimeshares.com.

In order to start the closing process, please click the link below to verify your information. Once your information has been received and verified along with the sellers, the information will be sent to the closing company to start the closing procedure.

If you have any questions, please contact us directly.

Thank you,

Unless a TUGger knows the details, call directly and ask for the info. The name of the closing company, their fee and anything else. Maybe that company's phone number for more questions.

Thank you very much I will do that now.
Is it in my interest to find my own closing company or do I have to do what the site from which I purchase from tells me to do.
I will call them now and post details.

I called but I guess they are not opened on weekends?????
It said to leave a message and then transfered me but then it said the message que was full and I would be disconnected and I was.
hmmm....I guess I will send an e-mail and call again on Monday.

I Like To Know What's What Up Front.

In some of our timeshare purchases, part of the deal was using a closing agency specified by the seller. That was OK with us, because in each case that requirement was spelled out ahead of time -- no surprises. If we didn't like it we didn't have to buy from them.

With other timeshare buy-sell transactions, we got to pick the closing agency. So we went with Timeshare Transfer Inc. on some & Timeshare Closing Services Inc. on others.

All our timeshare purchases -- all 5 of'm -- & all our timeshare sales -- all 1 of those -- were trouble-free & 100% satisfactory, regardless of which closing services agency handled the transaction & irrespective of who got to pick'm. Still, the matter of who gets to choose is 1 of those terms & conditions that we like to know about in advance, before we sign anything or commit to an eBay bid.

Thank you very much for all your insight.
I honestly don't care either what closing company we use as long as it is legit and tuggers here don't have anything negative to say about it.
I did fill out my address and phone number and hit submit. I didn't have to supply any other information, yet.

Hopefully the closing company rate is not too high. That is where you run into problems.

I chose my own company which I got the name from here on Tug on the banner ads.

I am sure it will all work out. What resort did you buy at how much did you pay, is it a fixed week or floating.

buyandselltimeshares is not listed on the most mentioned by tuggers thread.
There are many listed but not this one. I hope all will be ok.
As of now, they only have my name and address but would like the transaction to go through without any problems. My first usage would be this August.

I got a great deal on a week from that site, and told my seller I would not use their closing company, it was ridiculously expensive. He simply called them and told them his buyer was very unhappy with the overpriced closing company they use, and would be using a different closer. I had the resort close it for $250. Stand your ground, don't let them bully you into anything.

Thank you. I will do that. They haven't contacted me yet.
Once they contact me, if the price seems too high, I will contact the seller.
Thank you. That is a good idea.

cdzuiba: Can you elaborate for me? Did you
1. e-mail the seller and tell them you would not use the closing company buyandselltimeshares uses?
2. once your seller agrees, he calls up the closing company and asks them to do what? Release the property back to him (the seller)?
3. call the resort where you are buying the t/s and told them you want to close on a property and had them do it?
4. e-mail the seller and tell them to contact the resort and proceed to give them the info. so they can close for me (us).
Was it that simple?
Thank you very much.

Happy to elaborate. The seller has already paid that site an upfront fee, and is under no obligation to use their chosen closer, unlike some other sites. My seller simply called them and told them he had a buyer, and she (I) would not use their closer. He was in control of the sale and wouldn't let them force us to use their closer, who charged around $475. I had contacted the resort prior to agreeing to buy the timeshare, and they were happy to close it for us for $250.

The sales company doesn't have to "release" the timeshare back to the seller. All the seller has to do is stand firm with that site, and say "We're using our own closing company". Does this clarify things?
