Boston in July
My daughter and I are planning a trip to Boston and then Cape Cod. I have an exchange ready for the Cape, but I'm not sure which part of Boston we should stay in to be close to everything. We planning to use the T and other public transportation while in Boston. Does anyone have some great suggestions for a decent place to stay without cutting off my arm and leg to pay for it. I know it is high season, but there must be some not widely advertised places to stay and absorb that great city. We are staying mid week for 3 days, so no weekend is involved.
Many thanks for the help Jolene ![]() |

We used to live north of Boston. Everything in the city-close to Fanueil Hall/Qucincy Market/waterfront is the most expensive and best location. You can find less expensive hotels near the colleges-Cambridge, Brighton. Just make sure it has close access to the subway. Holiday Inn chain comes to mind. Watch parking a car as it can be very costly as well and not always included in the nightly stay. Have you looked at auction on www.skyauction.com ? They sometimes have some very reduced Boston hotels--not every day or every week, but generally several times per month if you can wait

I believe that there used to be an Holiday Inn on Boston University's campus...that was quite some time ago, but I believe that a hotel is still there. It is on Commonwealth Avenue. It is central to all ,down the street from Kenmore Square and in front of the T. I have also had great luck with the Copley Plaza hotel...it is also very centrally located.

I've stayed at the Residence Inn Cambridge a couple of times. Very convenient to the T.
