Scam alert - a new twist on the postcard timeshare resale company scam

Timeshare Resale Scam Alert

I became a victim of the latest postcard timeshare resale scam. This happened to me and it could happen to you - or any other timeshare owners you know.

************

Here's How the Scam Works:

You get a postcard in the mail or an e-mail from someone offering to take your timeshare off your hands. They promise they will take any timeshare that has value. No upfront fees and no charges. They will be meeting at a hotel in your area, and advance reservations and appointments are required.

If you respond, they get back in touch with you to set up an appointment for a meeting at a hotel in your area. They tell you that if everything is in order they will accept your timeshare. But to make the transaction happen you need to bring your deed, and you will be asked to execute a power of attorney allowing them to transfer your deed for you. They give you a blank power of attorney and tell you to fill it out before the meeting so that you will be ready to execute the document at the meeting if you accept their offer.

When you go to the designated meeting room at the hotel a person there checks you in and reviews your paperwork to be sure everything is in order and the power of attorney is ready for execution. Once they make sure the paperwork is in order you are directed to take your paperwork to a specific suite in the hotel.

***************

What Happened to Me

When I did this, the door to the suite I was directed to was answered by a voluptuous young lady who looked as if she had just come off the runway at a Victoria’s Secret show. She invited me into the suite, seated me in the living room, and set my paperwork on the coffee table. Another young lady then appeared – wearing even less –and began nuzzling my neck, nibbling my ear, and …..

Then the first young lady came back, having changed into something “more comfortable”, and snuggled next to me on the other side, and proceeded to …..

After a several minutes they suddenly stopped what they were doing and started walking out of the room. When I asked what was going on, the lady who opened the door grabbed my paperwork and a pen off the table and said if I wanted to sell my timeshare I needed to execute the power of attorney. I couldn’t sign fast enough..

I sold timeshares on Tuesday, Wednesday, twice on Thursday, again on Saturday, and also yesterday and most likely, tomorrow. But now I’m running out of timeshares, and I don’t think I can close on any new ones before they move to another city. I'm glad I loaded up at Holiday Group's end of year blowout last year.

Can anyone help me out? Does anyone out there have any timeshares they are willing to give me under power of attorney before these people leave town next week??

****

and a tip o' the tam o'shanter to Fern for her help in exposing this scam.
