Smile Myrtle Beach In July

hello! I am booked to go to Myrtle in July. I have never been there and this is my first trip. I do like the beach and pool stuff. WE DO NOT GOLF. What else is there to do besides beach and GOLF at Myrtle Beach? Is there any sites that are close by that are a must see. Also what are some good places to eat?

Thanks!

Laser

You will not run out of things to do!! You may find yourself thinking how can I get it all in. My fav restaurant in MB is Mrs. Fish and in No MB I love Hoskins. Both are very laid back inexpensive dives. For more upscale choose the Sea Captains House. I also enjoy Pier 14 behind the Yachtsman.

There are 2 big shopping areas, Barefoot Landing and Boardwalk. There are numerous music theaters. If you like gardens go to Brookgreen Gardens, then go across the street to the state park.

Lastly, when you are in No Myrtle Beach go across the street and watch the shaggers and buy some good ole Carolina Beach Music.

You should try Thorny's restaurant, it is very good. There is also the aquarium, mini golf,Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing. If you want a fun restaurant, try Dick's Last Resort at Barefoot Landing.

We own a t/s in Calabash (a mile or two from North Myrtle Beach); there are several seafood restraunts there and the food is prepared in the famous Calabash style and the prices are VERY resonable. Thre are many small specially shops there as well.

Brookgreen Gardens is fantastic in Murrell's Inlet. We also enjoy Huntington Beach State Park- it is much more than just beach. MB also has a minor league baseball team-they play at a very nice ballpark near Broadway At the Beach. House of Blues always has SOME kind of concert going on.

I don't know what your age is or if you are taking children. We are seniors and I can't begin to tell you about all the fun we have in Myrtle Beach. Here are some of my favorites.

Myrtle Beach is an awesome place to vacation but be forewarned ~ it will be very crowded in July. Broadway on the Beach is located in central MB and is a place we would never miss on a visit to MB. You can plan to spend the day there. There is the Palace Theater ~ live shows ~ and you should get tickets in advance if your interested in going. There is shopping, restaurants, miniature golf, the Aquarium and a 9 screen movie theater, in case it rains all right there.
RESTAURANTS:
Jimmy Buffets, Margariettaville, excellent food and lots of fun
Johnny Rockets- Best milk shakes and hamburgers in town - fun too!
Langrey's Seafood Restaurant - Excellent food, somewhat expensive but right on the water.
Planet Hollywood - Good food and a very interesting place to see.
In the evening this place comes alive with music and dancing. Dueling Piano's is a party place but lots of fun.
(these are all at Broadway at the Beach)

Really upscale and excellent, expensive food can be had at the Thorobread.
The Carolina Roadhouse is another one of my favorites. Best steak in town.

And for the best place to stay in MB (IMO) is the Sheraton Broadway Plantation ~ Gold Star resort with plenty of parking, beautiful pool with plenty of pool chairs and by far, very clean. Anything else you would like to know just let me know. You'll love Myrtle Beach!

Just returned from MB a few days ago - part vacation, part not.

Didn't have a whole lot of free time, but we spent quite a bit of time at Broadway on the Beach. There is plenty to do there (what gnipgnop said ). Ate at Margaritaville and Senior Frog's. M'ville was a lot of fun and good food - I recommend it if you like that kind of place. Senor Frog's .. well it tends to be more of a dance club than an eatery as it gets later in the evening. If you don't bring the kids, it could be a lot of fun also.

Oh, and the beaches were surprisingly very clean. Not sure what I was expecting, but apparently it was more than I anticipated.

We have been vacationing in Myrtle Beach for ten years and also are neither golfers nor sun worshippers. We do enjoy walking on the beach but our greatest fun is dining and exploring what the area has to offer. We love the area and will be wintering over there upon retirement next year. To make a long story short, we started a web site last year devoted to MB and all the things there are to enjoy. It's at myrtlebeachsnowbirder.com.

Just finishing up a week here in Myrtle. Favorite restaurants were Thorny's, Mrs Fish and kids loved Planet Hollywood. Medieval Times was fun for my daughter and niece(9 and 11). They also loved the Cancun Lagoon mini golf course. Broadway at the Beach has lots to do as well. Margaritaville had a 4 hour wait on Tuesday night(can't imagine what it would be in the summer). We went back for lunch one day and still waited for 2 hours. It was fun, but not spectacular by any means. There are two Tanger outlet malls. We found the one on 501 to be less crowded and it has the Nike outlet which my kids went nuts in(they had Myrtle Beach Nike shirts for $7.99). If you are looking for souvenirs, Eagles has the best coupons in the vacation guide. The girls each spent $15 and came out with a lifetime supply of playing cards, skim boards, shark tooth necklaces, magnets, taffy and shell rings.

This was a family vacation so our activities centered around the kids. If you are traveling without kids I am sure others can give better suggestions.

Have fun!
Cindy

I'm in MB right now, at The Yachtsman! Crocodile Rocks, a dueling piano bar located at Broadway at the Beach is a TON of fun. If you like to dance...Studebakers at Route 17 & N. 21st. The House of Blues at Barefoot Landing has a Murder Mystery Dinner Theater that is fun too. Loads of things to do here.

The Nascar experince is a lot of fun. They have 1/4 size replicas of stock cars that you can race and lots of other fun activities if you enjoy racing.

I used to own at the Y-man and loved the location. I also like Pier 14. I am glad you mentioned Studebakers. It's a great place to go to dance the shag. shaggy

Cool

check out the HOB (house of blues) website and see if anyone you like is playing there at the time you'll be staying. We saw BB King there, and grated it was BB, but still a good intimate venue.
