Question Smugglers Notch 6/8/07 check-in

Hello All,

I have placed a hold, using a fairly weak trader, on a unit at Smuggs for above check-in date (Friday)and have a few questions;

1) I'm assuming things at the resort will be in "full swing" by this date? Is this correct?

2) RCI tells me unit may be TH-4.(2BR/8) Anyone know location, age of units, any other info??

3) After paying exchange fee and if I pay the $275 additional fee, what are we not getting compared to those who pay thousands for a week through the resort? I know I have to figure in what the exchanged week is worth too, but my brain is trying to see what the differences are in TS exchange vs. renting from resort.

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mark

TH is Trailside Highlands...pretty location but up the mountain a bit, so a fairly long walk from the center of things, but of course you can drive or take the resort transportation.

Yes, June 8th or so is when the summer programs start.

As far as what you wouldn't be getting vs. a regular owner (in addition to the rec fee)...regular owners don't pay for the camps. You will need to pay (I believe) $50 per child per day. Also, the week you are exchanging into isn't a fixed week that is sold by Smuggs, since for most people, it falls way before their kids would be out of school...so it is great that it works for you, but most of us would need a week much further into the summer, and those weeks are much more difficult to exchange into. The week you are exchanging into is a "float" week; in other words, it is tacked on to a fixed week ownership of another week and is therefore more easily accessed since most owners deposit their floats every year. Sometimes early June can also be a bit chilly.

If you're asking what you are getting or not getting, versus renting a week right from the resort, then I believe the only difference is that when you rent right from the resort, you don't pay for the camps (or pay the rec fee), but I'm sure the cost benefit of exchanging more than makes up for that.

The bottom line is that you will be spending a week at a great resort and are paying less through the exchange process than you would be to rent that particular week through the resort, so enjoy!!

June 8th is the first day of summer programming and all activites will be in full swing - the pools, camp, hikes, night life for adults and kids etc etc.

TH are small buildings of 4-6 units. Each unit is owned by 3 owners who hold 16 weeks, 8 in season, 8 not .
You will be on the ground floor. As Sharon said, they are a bit up the mountain, and they are relatively new, built post 1997
(98? 99?)and well maintained. There is also a private pool at the end of that road attached to a larger building , (Aspen Highlands) that I am fairly certain can be used by the TH people as well.

I think the only thing you wouldn't get by exchanging in and paying the extra fee, vs. renting from Smugglers, is getting the camp included for free. I really can't think of anything else but maybe someone else can.

Smugglers is getting to be a harder and harder exchange for prime summer, and as Sharon said, many of us who have this week as a float can't use it as school is still in session.
It's a great deal to be able to enjoy the resort at a reasonable price. (exchange week plus fee) I hope you enjoy it.

We exchanged for the exact same week last summer and had a great time. We had to pay the activity fee plus the kid camp charge on arrival but we though that is was a lot of fun and well worth it. We were fortunate to have great weather most of the week too.
