Fairfield Seawatch in MB ~ closed??

Hi, we are in MB right now. We were booked in a 2BR in Fairfield Seawatch Plantation, yet when we showed up to check in we were directed to another property about 8 miles north in North Myrtle Beach, the Wyndham Ocean Blvd. We were told that Wyndham had bought all the properties and we had been upgraded to a new resort while they renovated the Seawatch. Well, our unit is OUTSTANDING, new 2BR, modern decor, with a fabulous ocean view. Writing this from the computer center.

Anyone else know anything about this???

Fairfield and Wyndham are all brand names owned by the lodging/timeshare division of Cendent Company which split into 4 companies last July. They are now using the Wyndham name for almost all their timeshares.

Same company, different name.

Did not hear this (Seawatch closed), maybe they plan to sell you something, or maybe the unit you reserved is at maintain.

But as John said, Wyndham's name was bought by Cedant, when it split into 3 subcompanies, it gives the company that owns FF and RCI the name Wyndham, and they are rebrand themselves into Wyndham. So there is no buy out.

Complain loudly!

You presumably own a specific week in a specific unit. If so complain loudly and in writing and ask to be upgraded to equivilant accomidations and for some freebys like you get on one of their sales tours. It might work.

No complaints, I think this is a newer resort, the room is beautiful!! Same size as what I traded into, we are not owners at Seawatch.

Just a heads-up if anyone is headed to the Seawatch soon, you may be sent up the road!!

Less hassle

We enjoy the North Myrtle Beach area because the beaches are less crowded and overall less hassle up that way. We like to stay at Shorecrest I-a Bluegreen resort. From what I've read Ocean boulevard is probably an upgrade from Seawatch. In fact I am currently looking into booking either the Seawatch or Ocean boulevard for the summer of '08. I was leaning towards the seawatch which looked to have more kid activities (Kids are 4 & 5). Let me know what you think of Ocean Boulevard for kids. (We are also Fairfield/Wydham owners as well)

Ocean Blvd. seems to have a fair amount of kids' activities, and a nice activity room for the events. Overall it is a beautiful resort, nice and new, and I happen to love the mid-century modern decor. The only hassle is if you are not an owner here, you are put across the street in Tower 4, then you have to go down to the street level, cross the street and then go up to the floor with either the activities or the computer room. An above street walkway would be nicer!

And I do love the North Myrtle Beach area much better than Myrtle Beach proper. It is close to the NC border, and we went up there to play golf at a beautiful course called The Pearl.

We are going back to Dick's Last Resort tonight for drinks, what a hoot this place is! The wait staff yells at the customers, and it is so funny to watch people who don't catch on to the joke right away!!
