Anyone have any info about this resort? We know the area pretty well but not the resort. We love Sebastian (stay at Disney Vero Beach a lot) and like to fish. Can't seem to find out too much about the resort except that it offers ability to convert to RCI but not very many points. Reviews that I have found claim it to be a little dated but kept clean and maintained although the reviews are a bit dated themselves. I know it sustained some damage from the last hurricane but I think they promptly repaired and there is currently a small assessment. Thanks for any more info if available.

You get a boat.

Both resorts are on the Indian River lagoon on the mainland and for the price of gas you get to use a small boat all week. They went through major upgrades after the huricanes of 2004.

yep...the boat is the draw for us

...we were wondering if there are enough boats to go around... what are the chances of actually getting one...are they sort of like the pool chairs everyone talks about at other resorts (not enough, or saved early in the morning etc)? We would like to go in November which is high fishing season down there. Looks like a decent place with resonable pricing.

It's been a few years but we went to Oyster Bay/Pointe in November and there was no problem getting a boat. They will give you instructions about the manatee and they have rods for you to use. We really liked the resort (reviews are not the best) My only issues were that there was only one bathroom and no dishwasher but other than that we enjoyed ourselves. We would go across to the Sandbar and listen to music and dance. They had hammocks and table/chairs down by the water....we would take our tea there in the morning. Not much to do around the area but that didn't matter to us......relaxing and enjoying the sun.

Oyster Bay

The boat is the draw with this resort, but the Pier at the inlet has outstanding fishing, throw in Capt Hiram's Rest, Walmart and you have a nice quiet get away!

If it matters to you at all in your evaluation process, one of the "Oyster" facilities has "Friday to Friday" weeks, the other is "Saturday to Saturday". I don't recall which one is which, but it might be relevant enough to you to inquire further if you are potentially combining your "Oyster" week with another week elsewhere, either before or after your "Oyster" week......

Thanks for comments everyone...

I just completed an ebay purchase for week 41 and it is a Friday to Friday which is perfect to combine with my DVC Vero Beach Sun-Thurs (Cheapest point cost). The closing company I have been working with (Timeshare Closings Service, Inc) has been excellent to date. They have kept me informed via email, home phone and snail mail every step of the way. So far deed is with the county to be recorded and they will let me know as soon as that is completed.
We have visited many times on our DVC points at Vero and that is how we got to know and love the area. Capt. Hiram's is great! Thanks again for all the great advice and information.
