Sunset Grille - Hilton Head Island
Dave,
Do you know if the Sunset Grille stays open in the winter season? Will we be able to have dinner there in early December? Thanks Richard |

call 'em
I'm not Dave, but I'm the one who told Dave about Sunset Grill...we just returned from HHi yesterday, and we were there for 8 nights...didn't get over to Sunset Grill, but we wanted to...just kept trying other favorites and a couple of new ones. SG is awesome. As to your question, just look 'em up and call 'em. I willsearch for my HHi phone book, and if I find it, I'll post the phone number, or either call them myself.
OK, I just now tried to call, but they had the answering machine on...they ARE open now, but must be too busy. They said "leave name & #" and they'd return call , if it was about making reservations for tonite or other time. I'll continue to try to find out. Anyway, here's this: Sunset Grille maps.google.com 43 Jenkins Island Rd Hilton Head Isle, SC 29926 (843) 689-6744 6 reviews Get directions...........................if you Google "Sunset Grill, Hilton Head", you will find several links. Best regards, Marty (jme) |

Yes,they stay open in the winter. Normally closed on Mondays. I dined there there in mid-February on a Sunday evening. My best meal in a long time.

Marty & Dave -
Thanks so much for the info. We're going to be on HHI the first week of December this year at the Grande Ocean. Am looking forward to a dinner at Sunset Grille and also the Holiday Tour of Homes sponsored by the Hilton Head Choral Society. Richard |

We also ate there in February. If you want to go early, definately make reservations. We went at 6PM, and all tables were for reserved only.

another good place
We were at HHI April 1-8. We happened to dine our last night at Crane's Tavern, located on New Orleans Rd., where several other nice places are (like Charlie's L'Etoile Verte & Catch 22) , and I must say we had one of the most wonderful meals ever....It's a very cozy place, lots of wood and that "tavern feel"...definitely a locals' favorite. Also very quiet, a "white tablecloth tavern", and a great menu. My daughter and I had the prime rib (I added a lobster tail...mmmmm) and my wife had salmon, and we all started talking about it the next day while riding home...it turned out to be that memorable. When we got home, we dined out for more prime rib at our local California Dreaming chain (it's great everywhere) just so we could TRY to relive that Crane's Tavern evening. Anyway, we will definitely add it to a REGULAR, instead of occasional, stop.
We also never miss Marley's Island Grill, Santa Fe, a seafood place (we skip around), & Bonefish. (We typically choose another one or two places to rotate into the week, alternating on various trips.) We even did our usual breakfast places: Skillets and Waterfront Cafe (old Cafe Europa, at the lighthouse in Harbour Town). Now, I'm back home trying to figure out how to add some more weeks!!!! Maybe a couple of long weekends, too. I've got the fever bad again. Just wanted to add my two cents' worth again, and tell everyone to enjoy. HHI really has some great places to make a memorable week even better. Marty (jme) |

Marty,
Thanks for the restaurant review updates. Don't forget to add The Old Fort Pub to your list of upcoming future visits. I think the last time we talked about this, you mentioned you hadn't eaten there yet. Best regards, Richard |
