Smuggs good for fall day trips?

I have reserved a 3 br at Smuggler's Notch for Oct 7. Is this a good area to do alot of day trips? Would love suggestions on antiqueing, covered bridges and just beautiful sights. My confirmation says Sy-23. Is this a good area?
Thanks in advance
Betty

Great for fall day trips. Not sure about antiquing, but there are great walks/hikes, and you can drive to Lake Champlain, or even Montreal. Stowe is pretty, too, and fun. Smuggs front desk has a lot of ideas for day trips, with directions printed out. If the weather doesn't get too weird on us, you should have some nice fall color that week, too.

Your unit is in Sycamores, a good location a little ways up the hill from the Village, and relatively newer units. You should be very happy there. You can check out the floorplan and location at www.smuggs.com

I drove all over the place. Be sure to drive over the notch. There is a fantastic waterfall that only the locals know about. It's down a dirt road. I did it and loved it but I have no idea how to tell you to find it. I think it's near a grocery store in Jay. My fav trip was one that I spent overnight in Lake Placid. I took the ferry over to Ausable Chasms and then on to Lake Placid. Awesome!! I was searching for some of my mom's family and friends. It turned out better than I ever imagined. I would advise taking tthe tour to Montreal instead of doing it yourself. I got so lost that I didn't have time to see much of anything. shaggy

The front desk should have lots of info for you. I remember seeing brochures for antiquing around the area, close by, but since I don't do that, can't really help.

You'll be there at a great time for the fall colors.
I'd recommend day trips to Shelburne Museum (70,000 items of Americana, something for everyone, plus a lighthouse, old train, paddle boat steamer, check out their website.)
Montreal is at least 2 hours away, so a long day if you do it, but fun.

I'd hike the mountain trails, visit Stowe, and explore the green mountains.
Also can drive to the top of Mt. Mansfield, Vermont's highest, for nice views.
Enjoy Vermont!

Resorts: Trapp Family Lodge, Stowe, VT. Vistana Beach Club, Jensen Beach, FL. Mountainside Resort, Stowe, VT.
The towns along Route 15 are great for antiquing (sp?). Jericho, Johnson, Jeffersonville all have small shops with reasonable prices.

Just an FYI, when I was there last year from 9/23 to 9/30, they were closing 'the notch' on October 1. You will probably have to drive around the mountain.

That may be the weekend of the huge juried craft fair in Stowe. You can go to the Stowe website and check the events calender. If you are interested in very high quality crafts of all kinds, this is a must!
