Hi All,

I'm relatively new to timeshares and am closing in on buying Marriott. It seems that I could (roughly) get two weeks for the price of one by buying resale vs direct from Marriott. I've researched this quite intensively and aw aware of the points advantage buying with Marriott. Is that enough to buy direct? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Chris

If you are buying from an established resort (not preconstruction or very early in the sales cycle for new units) then buy resale. There have been many threads here discussing the devaluation of points by Marriott.

Resale, Resale, Resale:cheer:

Marriott will currently sell you hotel points (MR) (50,000 pts for $650) therefore if you really want MR you can buy them and not give up your TS, pay the TS maintance fees (anywhere from $700- $1400) and not have to pay the $150 fee charged to convert your TS to pts.

Marriott sell MR pts to the public takes away the only resaon to buy a TS from Marriott. Unless you want something very special, like a platinum plus unit (very hard to find) or a unit at a brand new resort where resales just aren't available yet.

What can you get for 50,000 points? Is that $650 per year for 50,000 points per year?

Thanks,

Kathy
