hello tuggers who know EVERYTHING :).......

i want to type up and store my holiday mailing address list, and can't seem to find a database program in my "word" or "publisher" programs......

what program do you use for this purpose?......

i THANK YOU for any insight you can give me......

If you have Excel, that's an option too. Very easy to sort and keep track of things.

I use the mail merge option within Microsoft Word. it walks you through the steps, and if you select to create a new list (for the addresses) it will save into a database. When you go to print labels or envelopes you can check (and uncheck) the names you do (and don't) want to print out.

it's fairly easy to use.

I think the best and easiest to learn database program is called Approach - it's part of the Lotus Suite, but that's all I buy it for. It works on a 'field' basis such as 'first name, last name, title, company, street, city, phone, etc. etc.' and has many uses - even for organizing your books, files, etc. Searching is instant. You can easily merge the data into word processed letters, maling labels, envelopes, reports, etc. In competition is Microsoft Access which is a tough program to learn IMO.

I agree if you use MS Outlook that is the best way to go. You will then have the information for email and for a mail merge in MS Word. If you use a PDA or Smartphone the information will sync to that also.
