Do you know some nice all-inclusives?
We need some ideas for very nice all-inclusives in Mexico, Caribbean or other warm location for mid-March 2008 or 2009. We'll be exchanging with sfx-resorts most likely, but hotel options can be considered.
The only reason for scouting out the AI, is that our college age children are trying to present total pricing for their friends for budgeting purposes. Found some prior threads about Mexico and see that the AI tends to be an expensive ( $100/day +-) way to go with no credits for meals not used. What about other countries? Thanks for suggestions. Our daughter and her husband spent their honeymoon at an all-inclusive in Dominican Republic. I do not remember the name of it. I think it was primarily couples. They LOVED it and want to return.

I believe that all the hotels a tourist would visit in the DR are all inclusive. It's too dangerous to go off the hotel grounds in most places. Seriously. They have to feed you on site.
Was it the Lifestyle Hacienda? Just read a slew of the most negative reviews of any resort ever on tripadvisor. Even discounting the most glowing reviews and the most negative, there are still so many warnings on tripadvisor never to go near this place. I can't believe it's listed on sfx. Updated: Mark from sfx clarified today that there are distinct properties and that they only place their members in the Crown Villas or the VIP suites which are not at all the same as the hotel I read about. I don't know about other places but Puerto Vallarta is very save for tourists so far and there are many excellent restaurants to choose from.
If you stay in Nuevo Vallarta, then you are further away from restaurant choices and an A-I resort may make sense. It would cost you a lot to take a cab back and forward every night to downtown PV or the marina area. We like staying at resorts where they have both but the convenience is nice when you don't want to have to make decisions and try to find new restaurants on your own. It is best when you have the choice and it's not mandatory. This seems to be where most resorts are heading to outside of the USA. I only know this area.

I don't believe that SFX affiliates with any resorts that have mandatory A-I fees?

If your college aged children are not over 25 they will be out of luck as far as most resort exchanges go, unless someone over 25 goes with them.
I highly recomend Sunset Fishermen's Resort and Spa in Playa Del Carmen. The all-inclusive fee is one of the least expensive I have ever seen. which for next year will be $52.00 pp per day. Also the Blue Bay in Cancun also has a cheaper rate. Just remind everyone to stay away from the timeshare salespeople. I recently saw H10 Maya Riveria on RCI newer resort and looks like the all-inclusive is $66.00 per day. Depends on what time of the year your kids desire to travel. If during spring break they might not have much luck. |
