That would be nice. You know, years ago I drove a car for a transport company from Michigan to California. They checked me out pretty good but THEY PAID ME to deliver this guy's second (or third) car.

I have rented from Hertz one way, with no extra charge.

That was from NJ to MA.

Cool

I too have rented with Hertz one way with no extra charge ... but to be honest, I'm not sure if that as #1 gold club member perk or that in combination with my corporate contract.

I don't think so. The question is asked before you put your membership number in, to the best of my knowledge.

Cool

nah, I'm logged on to my #1 account from the get go ... that's why I'm not sure. I seem to recall that it was a perk of our account, but that info was given to me a few years back and I've never had a reson to revisit that package.

Talking

Update. It appears the TO Orlando leg is the issue. I contacted Hertz based on the feedback here and got essentially a quote double a roundtrip. Of course I asked WHY ??????????????????

The operator said because Hertz then needs to find someone to drive it back. I said, hey, I could do that and asked if they had any Orlando to Chicago vehicles. They had no minivans but did have an SUV. Cost for 9 days with unlimited miles was $300. Thats is about $200 cheaper than getting the same vehicle for a round tripper.

Well, I had already booked my flight from Orlando to Chicago so the family will be flying both ways. Lesson learned for the next trip.

Thanks for the help Tuggers. I knew I would get good advice. Bill
