Question How popular is Phoenix in April

I just booked my Sheraton Desert Oasis week for next April. Because of the way the school calender works out with Easter and Passover, our district has a full week off in April for Passover, and only a few days at Easter. Easter week is always a very popular week to travel. How popular do you think this Passover week 4/19-26/08 will be? I'm debating if I should book airfare 331 days out, or wait and see what the fares will look like. Thanks.

My short answer is if you find a fare in the $200's you ought to book it....my longer answer is below:

My guess would be that Easter week would be higher than Passover week. I am heading to Phoenix later this week and saw airfares as low as $220 r/t from Boston when I was looking. To me that was VERY low, I'd say you ought to search for your days and when you see something under $300 think about booking it.

Being on Long Island, I'm guessing JFK is an option for you to fly out of. That being the case, JetBlue could be an option for you. I think JetBlue will require you to wait until late summer/early fall before you can book for next April, but that shouldn't set you back too far. Of course, if you find something in the $200's (as I mentioned above), I'd say to go with it. I'm pretty sure JetBlue and US Air/America West are your only options for n/s flights to Phoenix, but with competition on the marketplace, your fares hopefully will remain in check.

May is usually 25 percent cheaper. DJs right; fares can be $200 r/t but with the Middle East happening, who knows what next year holds? I would get it as soon as possible and hope the airline will still be in business this time next year. Southwest and US Airways are the major Phoenix carriers but JetBlue and ATA also have reasonably priced flights.

Thanks. The only thing I do not like about Southwest and Jet Blue is that you have to hold out after the other airfares are on sale, and you never know if SW and JB will be better or not.

My in-laws live in Phoenix area ...

Just visited over end of March - 1st week of April.

Bought our fares (cheapest for that time frame) in January. I believe the 7th. That's when the fares had dropped as low as they had been for quite some time. We got ours for about $312 (apiece - total), but could have gotten them for less than $275. This was from Minneapolis.

Can get really cheap fares over January and beginning of February from here. Starts going up end of February.

Ann-Marie,

We will be there the same week (traded thru RCI). Any recommendations for unit locations? Many thanks.

Right now SW has flights in January from Long Island for $99 one way. My prediction is that April will be similar.
