While looking over another time share site, http://streettalkblog.com/ I found a blurb about Westgate. It was obviosuly part of a press release but interesting reading.

Love em or hate 'em, you have to admit the growth Westgate has encountered over the past 25 years is quite impressive.

For any resort to sell that kind of real estate in a week, just goes to show you how many people are interested in timeshares and never heard of ebay.

December 15 will mark the 25th anniversary of the opening of Westgate Resorts’ first resort, Westgate Vacation Villas, just west of the entrance gate to Walt Disney World in Osceola County, FL.

Since then, Westgate Resorts has grown to become the largest privately held timeshare company in the world with over $800 million in annual revenues. Westgate Resorts is a subsidiary of Central Florida Investments, Inc., which was founded by David A. Siegel in 1970 as a real estate development firm, starting from a small office in his garage.

All 28 resorts will embark on an 18-month celebration of the anniversary, which will kick off Memorial Day Weekend, May 25. “We love our Westgate Resorts Owners. They are responsible for our success,” says Siegel. “We’re going to be celebrating them, we’re going to celebrate our employees, and we’re going to be celebrating our future owners.”

Guests, owners, and visitors to the resorts and to the company website, http://www.westgateresorts.com, will be invited to enter contests with chances to win $25,000. Specially discounted 25th Anniversary Vacation Packages will also be offered.

Over the past several decades, Westgate Resorts has become Central Florida’s largest private employer, and employs over 10,000 people nationwide. Westgate Resorts recently marked its first $25 million sales week, Apr. 2-8, the largest week of timeshare sales in the company’s history.

This sales record represented 1,873 real estate transactions in a seven- day period across 17 of the company’s 28 resorts, and is one of the largest sales weeks in the industry’s history.

Over the past 25 years, Westgate Resorts has expanded into 11 states, including Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Miami Beach; Williamsburg, Va., Gatlinburg, Tenn.; Branson, Mo.; Tunica, Miss.; Park City, Utah; Mesa, Ariz.; Las Vegas, and Anaheim, Calif., as well as the company’s home base, Orlando.

With 28 resorts and over 400,000 owners worldwide, Westgate Resorts is one of the largest resort developers in the world. The company provides affordable luxury vacation accommodations as well as offering worldwide travel solutions through their exclusive affiliation with Interval International, the Quality Interval Exchange Network comprised of over 2000 resorts in over 75 countries.

WestGate Timeshare Tours.

They put on great timeshare tours for freebies -- I'll say that for WestGate.

Google Orlando Discounts or anything similar and you will find that Mr. Seagull operates almost every website and phone number that comes up.

They do more than 50,000 Orlando accomodations tours a year.

You have not been in a real timeshare presentation until you have been in their buffet/sales room.

Just thinking about that room gives me a headache. Been in there 2x - once when I bought  and once for an owners maintenance meeting that was of course a sell me more meeting. :annoyed: I had to learn that lesson twice.

Now I just enjoy the resort and things are good. :D

I like the popcorn. And eavesdropping on the lying weasels.

Ditto. Like most things, Westgate has its good and its bad. We go evry year for our weeks 7, 8 & 9 trek for a family get-together at our 4BR unit. Like talkamotta we go down and enjoy the resort. Life is good in the pool with those Maine cold and blustury winters behind us and the kids enjoying themselves. Did I say snow and ice in Maine while we are in the heated pool?:hysterical: :hysterical:

frenchieinme :cheer:

I suppose this is one thing we have in common. :p Unfortunately, my wife does not share my joy for this type of entertainment so we rarely go on the tours anymore. I believe I'd probably go even if no treats or gifts were offered for two reasons. One, to see the units and two, to hear the stories they tell with such conviction.

Yeah, but doesn't it make you wanna buy something so they can ring the bell, have everyone shut up, announce your name, and then you can go passed those little dividers and sit with the VIP people. :hysterical:

The only thing that has changed about that system in 20 years is the room they do it in.

No, one other thing has changed ! The FREE T-SHIRT you can win at one of their presentations !:cheer:
