SFO-ATL June 25-July 1- prices seem high

Our son is going to visit his grandfather in Georgia next month so we are trying to book a flight. It seems like all flights are expensive, probably being close to the holiday weekend. I've tried different travel sites and nearby airports but can't seem to come up with a non-stop or one-stop daytime flight for under $380 (more for the non-stops). He's 15-1/2 and will do fine on his own as he's taken this trip annually. Should I wait another week or two? Any tips would be appreciated.

You can get the fare down to about $340 if you're willing to adjust the travel dates by a day or two (forward), but your quoted fare seems very reasonable for the major airlines on peak (or near-peak) vacation traveling dates. Keep checking over the next day or two. Fares often drop a bit towards midweek.

But wait no longer than the next day or two.

I just started looking for airfare for IAD-SFO for June 14-18. Yesterday it was $348 for non-stop both ways. A few flights were as low as $268 for less popular times. They weren't listed as being sale or special fares. Had to check with traveling companions today before booking. Went to look today and same flights are $478!!!!!

I've seen fares change slightly day to day, but never like that!

Think there's any chance they'll go down again at all?
