Question Need help- 2007 Summer vacation...

Would you recommend (for me, DH, and DS- 2 1/2 this summer):

1. Salem, MA? I've always wanted to check it out, so we had planned to spend a day and night here, but the reviews on Trip Advisor are pretty bad. If we cut Salem, we get a 3rd (and much needed extra day) at Hershey Park. What would you do?

2. Mystic, CT- Good for a 2 1/2 year old? Can we do it in 1 1/2 days?

3. The Crayola Factory in Easton, PA- Good for a 2 1/2 year old?

Thanks for the help- want to start making travel arrangements soon.

Resorts: Starwood-WKORV, SDO, & SVR, Branson-Roark Vacation Club, Tahoe-Kingsbury Crossing, Kauai Beach Villas - 2 weeks
How many days to you have total? Driving or flying? Overall plan?

Jeni,
Living in Massachusetts my entire life and having vacationed in Hershey area I would stay in PA for the 3rd day. Salem is ok but not worth losing a 3rd day in PA.

Sesame Street Place would be a nice stop.

Loved taking our kids to factory tours. There is Anderson Pretzel factory tour and Herr's potato chip.

Hershey Park and PA Dutch are wonderful. Miller's Smorgasboard has a nice brunch. http://www.millerssmorgasbord.com

In my opinion, Salem is not worth it...our daughter was disappointed, and we were too...

The Crayola Factory would be a good choice. We went there when our kids were teens and we all had a good time. The whole process is very interesting, and they have an area where you make things with clay, then color them. You will probably spend 3-4 hours there at most.

Crayola Factory

We went when our granddaughter was 2. She enjoyed herself, but I think she would have liked it much more had she been a year or two older.

ps. Her mother loved it.

Thank you! We have decided to skip Salem. We take DS to Lancaster about 3 times per year, and we hit Sesame Place last summer, which he enjoyed. We're thinking more time at Hershey this summer, then back to Sesame Place again next summer, when he's 3 1/2. Thanks again for the advice.

One more tip--the Crayola Factory gets really, really crowded on the weekends. I think you can make reservations for entry on their website, and even though you're going on a Tuesday, I would do that since you only have one day to play with. We went a couple of years ago on a summer Thursday or Friday, and it was pretty mobbed. Have fun!
