If you own an EOY, one odd and one even, is it possible to book 2 weeks in a row every 2 years? (when I say possible i mean easily done as opposed to virtually impossible)

If your season included Dec and Jan I suppose you could book the last week in Dec and the first week in January through Marriott. Other than that the only way I believe you could do it would be to trade one week away to II and then hope you could trade for a week before or after your other week. Not impossible to do as long as you probably select a time of year which is slow...So generally I would say to your question "Can this be easily done?" No...If thats what you want to do why not buy two of the same EOY...(odd or even)

The easiest way is to deposit an even week with II and ask for an odd week from II. Then, when you get the odd week, reserve the week before or after it with your ODD EOY week thru Marriott.

You'd do this instead of reserving your odd week with Marriott first because it easier to reserve a week with Marriott than to get the exact week you want from II.

Either of the two ways can work, provided you don't seek peak weeks (e.g., when kids are on vacation). To trade first and then reserve, you'll have to hope that the week you want to reserve is still available. To reserve first and then trade, you'll have to hope that II will match you for the week you want in exchange.

However, the easiest way to do it is as cp73 suggests: buy two of the same EOY - either both even years or both odd years.

thanks dave...i take it they should be in the same resort? i read several different responses to this and so still can't determine what the straight answer is...

If I understand the question correctly, yes. We deposited our week this year and our week next year already. We have a week reserved in Kauai for December and I recently saw the week preceding it at the same resort with my other unit that is still available. You have 2 years to use a unit that you deposit with II so it is possible to use both weeks in the same year. Our units are EOY units. We also could have done the week after on a different Hawaiian island.

so you mean that if I'm dealing with something outside of my home resort then it might be more likely to book the 2 weeks consecutive through II, rather than just trying to book 2 weeks at my home resort 2 weeks consecutively assuming I have an odd eoy and an even eoy?

The things I have seen have not been intentional and with Murphy's law, I am not convinced that I would have the same luck if I was looking for it. I would guess that if you go outside of your home resort, use II. If you are staying at your home resort, it would mean using Marriott first for your week assignment and then depositing the other week and putting in a request either before or after that week. It would also help your chances if you chose a location that has many resort options which would mean you would be in the same area but possibly have to change resorts. I have heard of tuggers who have had success booking consecutive weeks and once you deposit your unit, regardless if it is EOY or not, you can use it to trade at any time for the next 2 years. It is just a question of wether you are going to go only with a Marriott or not. As an owner, you can also seek the help and advice of your vacation advisor within Marriott.

Just to be sure it's clear, you cannot simply "book" a week for (1) other than your home resort or (2) other than the year and season you own (with an EOY timeshare) at your own resort. If either of those two situations applies, you must use your week to request an exchange through II (or some other exchange company). Getting that exchange is sometimes easy and sometimes difficult. Generally, getting the exchange you want depends on the strength of the week you will use to exchange and whether enough owners of the week you want at another resort deposit their week so that you (in competition with many others) can get one of those weeks.

However, any time you seek to stay at your own resort in a season and year you own, you simply call Marriott - preferably a full year in advance - to reserve the week you want.

One further point: If trying for two exchanges for consecutive weeks through II, that can sometimes be a significant challenge. You would have the same uncertainties described earlier in this post - times two!
