Passport Requirements to Mexico
I am having some issues.
I am going to Mexico (driving) and have questions about the passport thing. Since we are not flying, the Goverments website says may require passport or other documents. "As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries." SO, the issue is, I then visit the homeland departments website and it says the same thing. I listen to the recording on the passport phone # and it says, you dont need a passport, just documentation, however this isnt good enough for me. Does anyone have a link to a state or goverment site that says other documentation is accepted. I just want some facts I can print out. The information above says MAY. I dont want them to say you cant get in or have alot of problems without having the passports. We have passports, but are kids dont and we are leaving in 2 weeks. We applied for them, but it doesnt appear that we will receive before we leave (taking up to 10 weeks). Thanks |

If you do a search on your thread topic, I believe you will find a thread, less then one week old, addressing your exact questions. Good luck and enjoy your trip.
