A friend of mine just received an 8 page letter inviting her to join, free of charge, an exclusive organization for very special people. It is so secret that they cannot reveal who else is a member or who the committee is that nominated her but these people are very well known talk show hosts, casanovas (yes they used that term several times), gamblers etc etc. They are all rich and well-connected. If she accepts the invitation, she will receive, free of charge, a booklet with ancient secrets on how to gain control over other people, get rich, etc etc. At least three times the letter stated this was her "calling" and intimated it was coming from God or a higher power. After laughing our socks off  , she is sending it to AARP as a scam alert.

Anyone else receive one of these letters?

Ooh, Rose. I'm getting a little creeped out just thinking about it. No letter yet, phew. Thanks for the tip. Ew.

I received something like this several months ago. If you send in the postcard espressing interest, then you get another letter back allowing you to purchase over 1000 pages of "secrets". Just a scam.
