Just booked ourselves into this resort and now I'm working if I made a mistake. It's listed as a 5 star resort so I grabbed it because of the special sleeping arrangements I need with my friends. Reviews on Tug are not so good but reviews at Travel Advisor.com are mostly raves. How can the reviews be so different? Any information or opinions would be appreciated. I have until tomorrow nite to change my mind.

You'll be fine. Take the phone off the hook when you check-in and don't answer any calls from the sales weasels.

I often unplug the back of the phone at night and plug it back -in in the morning...They seem to like to call early:rofl:

Ive owned at Westgate Vacation Villas for over 10 years now and have never had any problem. I love the size of thier units, etc.

The negativity comes from the sales department. If you get pressured make an appointment the last day and just be gone or say you have made other plans. I told them the last time I was there that I wasnt interested in going to the maintenance meeting???? but if they wanted me to try, I puposely made it the last day. They didnt pressure me and we all had a wonderful time.

Have Fun

We stayed there in March and had no complaints. Even did the sales pitch and found it remarkably low key. You'll be fine.

Thanks for your responses. I feel better about staying there now. I'm not too worried about the salespeople. I can easily blow them off because I'm going with three girlfriends and we'll just say we can't make that kind of decision without our husbands.

That will definitely do the trick! Just say "no husband" and the sales people go running. I find it funny b/c my DH leaves all timeshare buying decisions to me. I am sure there are also many DW who leave this to their DH. But these antiquated policies sometimes cut the sales staff out of good selling opportunities.

I didn't get any sales calls

I stayed there this past April, in my sister's unit (DH, DD and me). It was great and super convenient to Disney. I was worried about 2 things - neither which happened. They have a guest escort service when you check in, to show you to your unit. I was sure that the sales pitch would start then but it didn't, not at all. And then I had read here about relentless phone calls - and we didn't even get one! Maybe I should be offended?? :D

You'll have a great time.

Does this mean they wont sell to single people?:)

Ditto and Ditto. The sales department is bad news !! Very High Pressure Sales Tactics.

Enjoy your week in the sunshine state.

Oh, I am sure they will if you show some evidence that you are single. The issue is not "will they sell" but "should you buy". Most resorts insist on couples attending their presentations together to avoid cancellations.

We traded into WVV last year. Units are huge. We would stay there again but next time request the 2nd floor unit as we had a 1st floor condo and could hear the footsteps from the people above us. We checked in around 7pm so avoided any 'sales appt' pressure from the very start. Once in the unit the we unplugged the phone and relied on our cell phones for any calls thus again missing the 'sales appt' opportunity (LOL). We had an enjoyable stay.
