Due to school reasons I am now looking to travel New Years week. I will be traveling with a 15 and 16 year old's teens. Would there be enough non drinking activities to do forNew Year's week in New Orleans? I am thinking of Sedona too. We have never been to either area.

Most of the entetainment and thing to do in New Orleans is geared to adults.
Having said that, There is the Zoo and aqurium that are alot of fun. Riverboat rides and tours are also available.

When we go to NOLA we drink lots of water there. Just like at home, we leave the alcohol drinking to others who have different agendas than ours. I think your teens would have plenty to do in NOLA. (Unless you plan to be alcohol drinking all the time with your kids waiting for you on the street!)

It would be a cold day in H*** before I'd bring kids to this delapitated, sick, poorly run city for a vacation. New Orleans has got to be one of the worst cities in the United States. There seems to be no management or worthwhile functioning city management.

I did my research completely on this city well before Katrina when we were contemplating a family vacation and quickly came to the conclusion that I would not want my children to experience anything about this city.

There are far more preferable destinations for vacations-with-kids than this decaying city.

We've only been there twice, once before Katrina and once after. We never went for the "management or worthwhile functioning city management." I went for the history and the food. Initially my wife went to please me. Since our first visit she wants to know when we are returning 'cause she loves the food there. The NOLA School of Cooking with BigKevin is fun for the whole family too.

We need to still see the zoo and more of the Garden district. There are several streets in the French Quarter I still have not seen at all. I'd like to explore the area across the river (near Mardi Gras World) next time.

I think there's lots to do here for kids and families. But it may depend on what you like to do with your kids and family. I don't travel to sit by the pool and relax. A lot of people do though. Good for them. I'm anxious for our grandkids to get into their teen years so we can take them to great historical places like NOLA.
