Back from Maine,New Hamphire

We just got back from our trip from Calif. to the mountains above. Green and lush everywhere with lots of hiking, fishing, etc. For most people from Ca. I would say if not into hiking, etc. go to the coast. Much more interesting with history and things to do (during the summer). Get a coastal resort and use that as a base to drive from to the mountains instead of the other way around.

Welcome back from your trip! Being a fairly recently transplanted Mainer, I am interested in reading more specifically about what you liked. We were in California for the first time in October, and it felt very different...not bad at all, but different. Even the roadways felt different. But we loved San Francisco and wine country, and people were overall very kind and helpful.

GREEN everywhere. The beach cities remind me of Capitola (near Monterey).
The people we met were all nice and friendly but all seemed to hate the winters. Portland was a very interesting city and we would have loved to have spent more time there. I guess timing is everything too because we had near perfect weather while we were there.
