How to verify HGVC points?

From the HGVC owners website.

I am thinking about buying some HGVC points from someone who owns 5000 points at Seaworld.

How do you confirm with HGVC that the owner has what they say they have? Is there a number to call? Or an organization to reach?
HGVC is a deeded ownership. You could ask to see a copy of the deed? The points are based on the season and size of the deeded week. In general, 5000 pts is a 2 bedroom week during HGVC gold season. (4800 pts is a 1 bd during platinum season.)

Email me a copy of the deed sethnock@hotmail.com and I will help you get it verified. To verify current oints, you would need to 3 way the call with Hilton or have a letter from the seller authorizing release of the information.

Seth,

Why don't you just tell the person in how to do it instead of trying to get a copy of the deed so you can either try to sell it or have the person buy another timeshare from you?

If you have all this info share it with others on the board!!!

I would NEVER give you authorization release of info do you think we are all that stupid here???

Seth is a well respected and trusted member of this board.

While it may be your choice to not send your info to Seth, I think many of us would feel very comfortable letting him see that info.

I see you are new here. Maybe stick around and post more before making comments like the last line!

Ricoba,

I agree with you. I've never dealt with Seth, but his reputation is rock solid. It's interesting how you think when you trust someone vs. not. My reaction was that all I need to do is get a copy of the deed and verify it myself. That's what I will be doing. Thanks everyone for the input. I wasn't sure how Hilton deeds were handled in the purchase process.

Any particular reason you chose to reply in such an unhelpful and vitriolic way? Unless you are a mind reader (and I doubt you are!) you have absolutely no idea what Seth's intentions are, good or bad. To that extent I suggest that you think carefully before throwing around accusations and besmirching someones reputation. As the line under your user name suggests you are a guest on this bulletin board, kindly act like a responsible one or post your accusations elsewhere. Thank you.

People provide the authorization all the time when they want to sell their timeshare through a broker. It's part of the sales process. The broker verifies the ownership so that when they sell the timeshare, they are representing it accurately. You will be surprised at how many people do not know what they actually own.

I'll turn around your absolute statement and say that I would never sell my timeshare through a broker who didn't ask for the authorization to verify my ownership. That's because they would be proving to me that they don't know what they are doing.

If I didn't want to contact Hilton myself, I would have Seth do it without hesitation. I have ZERO concern that he would try to steal it from me.
Why would he want to do that? That would be cutting his throat on TUG for a small profit. The business case on that action would be highly negative.

I can read a deed better than most individuals and would not want someone to misread a deed and buy a unit they did not intend to buy. I will never steal a seller (there are certainly enough of them out there). I just want to make sure that the units are not misrepresented and that the buyers and sellers don't get cheated.

The Hilton deeds are very difficult to read, don't list the number of points the units are worth and don't tell you exactly what you need to know unless you know how Hilton codes things ... at least my two are.

Seth has interpretted the deeds for me in the past and has never tried to sell me something different than what I was working on -- of which neither were his properties. His willingness to assist others is genuine and he is smart enough to know that what goes around comes around. I am sure he makes many sells down the road from his always ready to help attitude.
